I use MSPaint for my cards. You don't need photoshop. MSWord would be pretty tough, though.

Sure. From a series I did of the entire New York Mets team...

And here's one of my favorite pitcher, Steve Dalkowski...

I use a T204 Ramly template for cards like the Dalkowski. I can post the blank template (which I made) if you want.

No problem. BTW, says you have AOL Instant Messenger. I'm generally online and you can get to me via clicking the little yellow guy icon under where it says "join date," "posts," and "blog entries." If you have any questions, IM me. Much quicker than doing it this way.

Being a Graphic Designer when I saw Designing anything in MS Word almost gave me a heartattack!!!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek:

But, Doing for something like that is is more than fine! Just make sure the pix aren't too pixelated so they don't look too crappy!

"Being a Graphic Designer"

I worked long and hard on that Ramly background to smooth out the edges of the photo border, but no dice. Any help would be appreciated.

What I think you could do is make oval shape selection just big enough that it goes over the jagged pixels stuff, Just enough to cover where it uneven and delete it. If I am making any sence, the only problem is if the image is low res it still be a little jagged because of the pixels. You could also use MS Publisher (Ithink thats on all PC now) that program is basically made for making stuff like the cards you are making.

To tell you the truth the easiest and to get thhe best out come is to use Photoshop or even Photoshop Elements, you just have to check out a couple of tutorials. You can get a free trial of Photoshop and I think Photoshop elements at adobe.com. MS Publisher is probally a pretty easy solution, i is ment to be more user friendly then other design programs.

I recently downloaded Photoshop. Where are some good tutorials I could read that would be especially useful for card making?

Just some of the Basics like 'Layers' 'type tool' 'selection tools' and if you want photo enhancement. They have some in the help menue but there are easier to follow ones on line just google 'Photo Tutorials' and sites usely have 'getting started' Tutorials all the way to advanced I still use them sometimes when /i can't figure something out. The programs are not reall that hard when you figure them out and play around a bit.

This thread inspired me to Design "my own" baseball card. I did it all on photoshop and made it look like an early 80's topps card, same year as Mattingly's Rookie card. thought I would do a Derek Jeter card, i took me about 1/2 hour to do it:http://www.baseball-fever.com/images/attach/jpg.gif
