The Dbacks have some young talented players such as Chris Young, Stephen Drew, Justin Upton and Conor Jackson who will improve offensively this year, so don't be surprised if the Dbacks win the NL west again this year! :crossfingers:

No prob. IMO, Justin Upton is one of those guys who only comes around once every decade or so; he's something special. I also have tons of praise for Young (Who showed he was learning plate discipline.) and Drew (I think he's underrated after this season due to the unrealistic expectations some of the prospect guys put on him/people thinking he'd become his older brother as a hitter in one season.).

He has a point. There's a lot of hope that the offense will be better next year than last, but the lineup wasn't very good last year.

Arizona scored the second least runs in the National League with 712, ahead of only the San Francisco Giants. They also allowed more runs than they scored. They were a statistical freak of nature to be where they are with the best record in the NL. While you can credit the ability of the D'backs to eke out close wins the fact remains that it's unlikely a team that did exactly the same thing next year would wind up over .500, much less with best record.

There's too much youth in the D'backs lineup for them to feel really comfortable. Sure guys like Reynolds and Young had good season, but who knows if that's going to their future or if that was a flash in the pan.

If if I were they, I'd feel about 100 times better if I had a solid veteran like Jason Bay in left field instead of Byrnes.

Byrnes all the way. I think he will continue to get better...I'm not sure what is going on with Jason Bay...

I think what will make or break the Dbacks offense is Conor Jackson's production. 15 HR for a 1B doesn't cut it in this league, but if he creeps towards the 20 HR plateau, the Dbacks are in good shape. What was promising about Jackson last season was that his SLG jumped up around 20 points. Hopefully he'll improve in 2008.

I don't think 5 hr's extra by Jackson will result in much - whether he hits 15 or 20...it really doesn't make much difference.

I think they should try Micah Owings at other positions like 1B or 3B (he's tall enough for first and has a strong enough arm for third)

Well our offense sure has made its mark so far this year. Reynolds and Young both lead the NL in home runs (with 4 a piece) and we have 3 players that are hitting above 195 OPS+ (Upton- 198, Young- 203, Reynolds- 203). Not much to say about the rest of our offense though, I am really concerned about Byrnes.

Funny stat, both Reynolds and Young have more home runs a piece then the entire Dodgers team.

Webb and Haren have indeed been great so far (as expected). I really like this team to win the division.

before you say something, look at the standings dude.In the end, the team that wins is the champion,no matter how you get it done. Whether you have offense,but your pitching sucks/vice versa. Fix your team's flaws before you try to correct other team's. go tell reyes to steal a base.
