I don't know Arod personally but I was taught the same hindering methods and drills that left my arms trapped or pushing to contact. This motion can be developed with some success. I don't believe that Alex produces the exact motions that you are seeing in this clip in game situation conditions. I believe bad drills still live at the big leauge level. I would also say IMO Alex could even be better without slop in his swing.

This is amazing EL, Oleary ,4x4 , anybody else . They all know Arods swing and how he should swing better than the man himself . Then you say the pros don't always know how they swing. EL are you for real did you not see the video camera right there while he was swinging . I guess the best player in baseball looks at video of himself but does not know what he is doing.
4x4 get your head out of your a$$.

JayC,

I played with and against big time players that were taught bad things. Most aren't interested in what they are truly doing. I will say they know what they know. I would say there're a number of individuals on this site if they had a sit down with Arod he would become more aware afterwards. I have had this experience with big leauge hitters I have sat down with and instructed JayC.

Look guys, you've Rose's vid supporting what Erik and Chris believe and then you've got Arod's vid that I guess supports JC's philosophy, whatever that is, and whenever he can express it w/out insulting someone. Erik, instead of suggesting that Arod either doesn't know what he's doing or would do it better if he had better advice (I hope I'm not putting words in your mouth), why don't we say that what he does works for him...he's 6'4" 230...he's found a way to generate enough batspeed and have a repeatable swing that finds the ball. The same techniques might not work as well if he were 5'10" and 160. Our ego's get totally rapped around our belief systems to the point where we will not admit that there is more than one way to strike a baseball effectively. I know what you teach works and I know that Arod, and others with a more hybrid swing works also. "One size" doesn't fit all.

I'm saying hitters at the big leauge level don't always practice smart . These drills are somwhat hand me downs IMO!

I agree with this!

Is the story about Slaught showing Barry Bonds that he didn't hit down on the ball true JayC?

Could you explain Slaughts approach to me. What does Slaught teach about the swing. What does he promote?

Only 90 mph!?! I thought he would crank that up to 100 for Katie.
