It isn't done yet. It is, however, expected to be done tonight, according to Gammons.
I want to see who these 3 minor leaguers are.
Pow. The first domino falls.
This is getting quite entertaining. :)

I would imagine that Cameron Maybin would be in the mix, possibly Andrew Miller or Jair Jurrjens

It is an eight player deal. Cabrera and Willis coming from the Florida Mudhens (sorry could not help myself), and 6 Detroit players. The three I know of for sure are Andrew Miller, Cameron Maybin, and Mike Rabelo.
Jair Jurrjens is already gone to the ATL in the Edgar Renteria trade.

---------------
The Florida Marlins and Detroit Tigers have agreed in priniciple on a trade that will send Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis to Detroit for key prospects, sources told ESPN's Peter Gammons.
The Tigers would send outfielder Cameron Maybin, pitcher Andrew Miller, catcher Mike Rabelo and three other minor league pitchers to the Marlins.
The deal is expected to be announced tonight when the physicals and paperwork are completed.

And the three other minor leaguers are.....
Burke Badenhop, Eulogio de la Cruz, and Dallas Trahern.

With Detroit swooping in on Cabrera, I imagine the Angels will now throw their hat into the Santana sweepstakes, potentially stretching that negotiation longer and ending with Santana in neither New York OR Boston.
These are going to be some interesting meetings.

Tip of the cap to you Mr. Westlake. Impressive....I have been looking around and could not come up with those other names.
Dallas Trahern was getting a little buzz as the season wore on last year, and the SP injuries and troubles mounted. Eulogio de la Cruz got a cup of coffee in about Julyish and with the exception of one appearence did pretty well. Looks to be a nice setup man/closer in making. This third guy I know nothing about.

As a Tiger fan, I'm excited about this trade but it by no means guarentees us a playoff spot. We still need a bullpen.
Miguel Cabrera has HOF talent and is on a HOF path. It been a long time since the Tigers have had such a young player who has those credentials. Jack Morris and Alan Trammell were and are not HOF locks. There is potential in Justin Verlander and Curtis Granderson but I don't think either has been as good as Cabrera. Time will of course tell but the point is that for Detroit Tiger fans this is very exciting.

Didn't they say that about the 2005 Yankees!?!
They're great on Paper....but that doesn't always translate!
And West..they're not the '27 Yankees! :highfive:

Well great for Detroit but when is something great going to happen in Cincinnati. We have only 4 starting pitchers on our 40-man.
At least the Marlns should (I said should) be easier to beat.

'Course, if the Hall of Fame can keep Alan Trammell out they can rob anyone.

Jack Morris is the fellow from the 1984 Tigers I feel most deserves to be in. Although, Lou's numbers are almost identical to Ryne Sandburgs. Lou should at least still be on the ballot. BBWAA are sometimes utterly knuckleheaded.
Tram...I think is where he should be...on the ballot and still being considered. Perhaps, squeaks in during a off year of first timers. Although, he does need to start picking up some votes for that to happen. He was just unfortunate to play during the Ripken/O Smith era. The same sort of thing might happen to Nomar having to compete with Jeter/A-Rod for the SS limelight.

No one could ruin Aaron Harang, he could pitch 20 innings every day and still be good.

Anyone think this is an awful lot to give up to get Miguel Cabrera? 6 players for 2 players, and one of the two players is Dontrelle Willis. Willis is below average, and seemingly declining too. Cabrera is great but is he really worth that much?

The Tigres clearly want to win now, and minor leaguers aren't shoo-in MLers. Everyone talks about Maybin's upside, I think he hit .143 in his stint. Miller looks pretty good. Willis had a down year, first half will tell if he was a loss-leader or a Mike Lowell-type throw in. If the latter, a scary rotation. But, will Zumaya come back and if so, when?
The only seeming question mark in the lineup, other than Sheffield's health and maybe Pudge's age, is in LF. Who's the guy there? Why don't they put Inge out there, he's supposedly an excellent athlete and if Biggio can move from C to OF, maybe he could as well.
Fun trade for both teams. Once in a while I'd like to have an insight into Marlin's management 2 and 7 year plans, so I could plan on when the big sell-off would be and save for it.

I definitely wouldn't vote for Morris, but I consider Trammell one of the most egregious omissions.

I don't remember where I heard it but I heard (or read) that the reason Willis is declining is because that he has no chance of competing for a pennant race and that he would do very good if he played for the competing team.

I wonder how much of Miggy's weight gain and lack of "morale" lately has to do with the fact that he plays on a crappy team, under crappy management, and in a crappy stadium.
It's cliche, but a change of scenery really might do him good.
Willis had a down year last year, but he gives the Tigers something they need more than anything: Innings Pitched. Willis' innings last year (205 IP) were below his average innings pitched (214 IP) and he still had more than any other Tiger had (4 more IP than Verlander and 28 IP more than the next man down Robertson)
Also, changing leagues should give him an advantage during his first go round through the league.
Plus, they could use Willis as a pinch hitter if they ever needed to! :)

Poor Cleveland. Detroit is really trying to get back to their 2006 form and win it all. They gave up 6 of their top 10 2006 prospects to get Renteria, Cabrera, and Willis. I still wouldn't put them as the favorite to win the AL. Right now it's Boston, even if they don't get J. Santana, and if the Angels get Santana I might put them a hair above the Red Sox. That rotation would be nasty (Johan Santana, Jeff Weaver, John Lackey, and Kelvim Escobar).

Actually I am pretty sure the reason he is declining is because his walk rate is going up, and his k rate is going down. That's a dangerous trend.
And if you have a pitcher who doesn't give his best effort because his team stinks, is he really all that valuable?

I played very competitive travel tennis for years, and I know I would step it up a notch and push myself more when my team was actually still in the hunt to win.. maybe that's the way D-Train is?

Great deal at all.
I'm only unhappy because of Cameron Maybin. I think he's a future star.
