From Washington Post:

Nats Note: A source with knowledge of the situation said the Nationals traded reliever Jonathan Albaladejo to the New York Yankees in exchange for right-hander Tyler Clippard, pending physical examinations of both players. The 22-year-old, who went 3-1 with a 6.33 ERA filling in for the Yankees this year, has a 3.52 ERA over five minor league seasons. He should immediately be a contender for Washington's rotation. Bowden did not return messages seeking comment on the deal.

I see no point in this deal. Yeah, the Yanks need bullpen but who is this guy? I think we got ripped off. Clippard could substitute for anybody who gets injured.

I guess its good deal. Clippard's stock had fallen so low and tis guy seems to have very good numbers. He`s 26 years old to

I think we will have plenty of others to substitute unless we hit a major injury bug like we did last year...

Since both have just gotten their first cup of coffee, Jonathan Albaladejo (http://www.baseball-reference.com/a/albaljo01.shtml) had a 1.88 ERA over 14.3 IP, whereas Tyler Clippard (http://www.baseball-reference.com/c/clippty01.shtml) had a 6.33 ERA over 27.0 IP.

I'll take my chances. I don't think that Tyler Clippard had done much, so I wouldn't mind this trade if Albaladejo turns into someone useful in the 7th or 8th inning.

Nice trade. Solid relief option and all we gave up was a potential back of the rotation starter who wasn't going to get a real shot at the rotation anyway. I'm glad for T-Clip, he actually has a chance to stick in the Nats' rotation.

EDIT: Perhaps I was too hasty. With Washington seemingly starved for good starting options I think a better player could've been had.

Agreed. He will get a chance to start and develop there.
I don't think he would have ever gotten another real shot with the Yankees unless a few arms got hurt.

I agree also, plus in his game against the Mets, where he pitched a solid game against one of the NL's best lineups, he showed he might be a pretty good NL pitcher. In an AL rotation he's nothing more than a 5 maybe 4 at best, in an NL rotation especially one like the Nats, he might be able to develop into a solid number 3. As for this other guy the Yankees got, I'm hoping he works out well in solidifying our bullpen.

Wow I hadn't even heard of Albaledejo until this trade went down but from what I've read online, he has pretty good control so maybe he could help out in the pen, If so, it seems like a pretty solid trade on both sides
Clippard could be good in N.L.
