Which one would you rather have on your team?
My vote goes to Bedard.

I went with Haren because we actually could still have Haren on the Cards instead of Mulder. I know that's not the motive behind the question but still... I'd love to have Haren back.

I'll take Haren, he's actually pitched over 200 innings.

I'll take Haren, but I am obviously biased.

If Bedard can stay healthy for a full year. I would go with him.
But, I'll take Haren

I bet you would. That had to be one of the worst moves in Cardinal history. I watched Haren develop as a AA Tn Smoky before the Cards pulled up stakes and left us high and dry. I stayed with the Cards while they won the WS, but have to question some of the moves they have been making lately. Sorry to see So Taguchi go, but I hope he ends up somewhere where he gets to play more often.

Yeah, it was definitely the worst move Jockety made. However, he made so many brilliant moves it's a little easier to swallow (yet somehow he was fired???). But I still wish we had Haren. :)

I don't really understand the infatuation with Bedard. He'll already be 29 next year (a week older than Johan Santana), and he's yet to pitch over 196 innings in a year, and only twice has pitched more than 141 innings. I could understand the attaction if Bedard were younger, but he's on the cusp of 30 already.
I'm not that huge on Haren either as pitchers on the A's have a tendency to drop off once cast aside by Billy Beane (though Hudson has had 2/3 good years in Atlanta), but he's definitely proven to be durable and has accomplishmed more than Bedard despite being two years younger.

If he's on he's one of the best. That and it can last for a month so he gets some "under-the-radar" pub where if it's a guy like Carlos Silva who can get lit up but over time has enough good ones (not 2006) he might give a 3.80, 4.20 or so ERA like Haren he doesn't look as dominant at all.
