The only stupid question is the one that is not asked.
A lithograph is an authorized reproduction of an artists original work.
The Andy Pafko litho that he signed for me was part of a series of Brooklyn ger lithos that an artist did a few yrs back. And it wasn't expensive at all. It only cost me $5.
I hope that helps you.

FYI, I've noticed a problem with laser photo scans recently. Some players send them out, such as Johnny Edwards. When these are signed with a sharpie, I've noticed that over a period of time the signature will bleed and smear on the laser photo. I hope you don't experience that problem.

I wonder if it matters on what type of photo paper that is used. High Gloss? Semi Gloss? Gloss? Matte?

The gloss might have something to do with it? The pics Edwards sends out is semi-glossed. It is possible he signed the pics before they were completely dry off the scanner, and that's what caused the bleeding over time. If that's the case, then you shouldn't have a problem.

Also, one RTS from Brady Anderson. The tag on the envelope says "Return to Sender: No Mail Receptacle". I used the address from Harvey's 2007 list. Anyone have an updated address or a recent success from Anderson?

I get my scans/prints made at my local Office Dept (they love me there, I'm good for business ;) )on a color Xerox machine on non-glossy card stock. I've no problems with any Sharpie bleeding. If anything, I sometimes have a problem with the Sharpie giving a good signature.
Non-Glossy card stock is best to use.

It's all part of the game. The key is that in order to kill a cold streak, you gotta keep sending. 10 days ago, I sent out a big pile of requests to retired players, and that's why I got 4 replies in the last few days. If I hadn't sent those requests out, I'd be complaining about my cold spell right now!

Are you talking about the sharpie sig bubbling up on the glossy stock? I agree. Non-glossy is the way to go. I hope you experience no problems!:)

That's cool about Sheaffer. He's not incredibly accommodating in person.

Sometimes the Sharpie will not make a good contact with the non-glossy card stock..looks like it's runing out of ink. I think it has to do with the composition of the stock itself.

George Crowe has definitely been a hot topic of conversation on the board and I have gotten a PM or two on him. Here is the scoop: I do not remember where I got the 8 X 10 photograph. I mailed the photo to him on 12/17 and received it back on Christmas Eve. However...I wrote to him earlier in the summer and never received a response. Frankly I was a little surprised after not receiving anything from him this summer but he was one of the missing pieces from my Reds' 50's collection.
I also had a success today. I received an autograph from Carl Erskine from his no hitter. He signed it on the front and also wrote on the back the situation and the date.

I wrote him asking him some questions about his time in the Negro Leagues and he might not have wanted to speak on it. Would you PM me with the address you used, maybe it is different than the one I had used.

Yeah, I know that she signs all of the stuff for him. It's sad that he can't simply scribble his name. When I read his book "The Zen of Zim" he stated that due to "internet auctions" and the ushc that he RARELY signs anything anymore.

Didn't you read my above post? In reference to Greg Maddux?
It's the luck of the draw. Some players sign over a course of the whole season. Some wait until the season is over. Heck some only sign during spring training. While others just for reasons unknown stop signing all together.

Shaun Phillips (http://www.sportsautosttm.com/TTM-Successes/Shaun-Phillips-Football-Autograph-TTM-12-28-2007.htm) 2/2 in 80 days c/o San Diego Chargers
I take it that you sent to Mueller before you knew he was working in the Dodger front office?
I may try to send to Richert..it'll make up for him not signing for me when I was kid..he had a rule about not signing in lobbies...

One today
Tom Paciorek c/o home 2/1 140 days signed card and IC
Nice on the Tom Paciorek. He has been a great signer for a long time..his brothers John and Jim do as well. His brother Mike played in the minor leagues as well as his son Tom Jr. and nephews Mack and Pete. Can't imagine what the familes topic of discussion around Thanksgiving is!!!

I'm going to keep this thread open until later tonight.
After that it'll be locked and the key thrown away. Bryanspellman started January's thread already: http://baseball-fever.com/showthread.php?t=72153
