What Player(s) holds the record for the fewest games played in his career before winning their first Gold Glove Award?

(Bonus - Can you name the record holders at every position excluding Pitcher)

No - it isn't Palmeiro - good guess though.

So this probably has to be a rookie GG'er.

Ichiro won a GG his rookie year - he played in 157 games. The first 157 games of his career.

But I'll check on a few more names to see if anyone can beat this.

Edit:

Carlton Fisk won his 1st GG 147 games into his career
...
Sandy Alomar won his first GG 140 games into his career
.....
But I think I am getting closer here:

In 1995, 23 year old Charles Johnson, Catcher for the Florida Marlins, won his first GG after just 101 career games played (4 games in 1994 and 97 games in 1995).
------------------------------------------------------------

So since I believe that is the overall record, I will give the rest of the positions a shot.

C: Charles Johnson (101)
1B: Doug Mientkiewicz (280)
2B: Ken Hubbs (170)
3B: Scott Rolen (353)
SS: Rey Ordonez (251)
OF: Ichiro (157)
OF: Cesar Cedeno (251)
OF: Willie McGee (270)

Good Job ! - Five out of eight is excellent including CJ - this list is quite amazing when you think about it - doubt anyone will break the all time record.

Edgartohof - thanks for th effort !
