Yes. The Twins are asking for too much from the Sox, and the Dodgers, who have the most to offer don't seem to be too interested.

The Yankees can have DNA taken from the body of CY Young and cloned into a 5 man pitching rotation. They will get Johan, they can get anybody.

If I were a Yankee fan this trade would scare the heck out of me.
The signing of free agent pitchers over the last few years has rarely
worked out. Look at the Yankees. Only Andy P has been a good signing in
the last few years. Every other pitcher has either under performed or
totally flamed out. Santana has already hit his peak. Her has thrown over
900 innings in the last 4 years. At some point, most likely sooner than
later, he is going to start breaking down. The Yankees have a nice group
of young pitchers who have lots of upside. I'd be very reluctant to give up
any 2 of them plus a budding young position player for a guy who is going
to command big big dollars and may have already seen his best days. I'm not
saying Santana won't be a good pitcher, I just wonder how much longer he
will be great.

Unfortunately yes I thinik they will. The Garza-Young trade makes it slightly less likely because the Twins probably won't have as much interest in Melky, Jackson, and Tabata but I think they`ll find a way to overpay anyway.

I think that Santana is a slightly different purchase because of his hardware.
I think the Yankees will sign him

In the end of the day you have that feeling that Johan will eventually be in a Yankee uniform, especially since they really want him.

I voted no. Partially because I don't want to give up Hughes/Cano/Joba but mainly because he'd look too strange without his goatee.

I voted no because if the Twins trade for Young from the D-Rays, oops, I mean Rays, then they will focus more on Hughes, Joba and Kennedy, and or Cano. I doubt Hank Steinbrenner and Cashman will go for that.

I think the Mets are a real darkhorse here. They don't have the prospects, particularly pitching wise, as some of the other teams do, but they might make up for that in aggressiveness. Minaya is said to really covet Santana and might go to great lengths to get him. There are even some rumors floating around that he may even use Jose Reyes as the centerpiece of the deal. Reyes is a great talent, but if there is any time to trade him, it's probably now. He regressed this past year, particularly in the second half, and I think there were some questions about his attitude/approach. He's 24, so he's still plenty young, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are some in the Mets organization starting to wonder if Reyes will improve like everyone thought he would.
With Reyes leading off in front of Delmon Young, Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau, and Mike Cuddyer, the Twins will field a pretty impressive lineup that should be a noticeable upgrade from last year (even despite the loss of Hunter). However, who's going to pitch after Liriano (assuming he's healthy)? Santana would be gone, Garza appears to be gone, Silva is likely going. The Twins will presumably get a pitcher in any deal, perhaps Pelfrey or Humber from the Mets, but the rotation will still be pretty young and suspect, though with some promise (with other candidates being Bonser, Baker, and Slowey).

I don't know if it will be via pre-season trade, mid-season trade or via free agency at the end of the year, but yes, I think the Yankees end up with him. The Garza trade does make me speculate a bit more that maybe the Twins have something else going on. With Garza gone, I can only see the Twins making a trade that includes a major league ready pitcher now (I think they were going to get that before the Garza trade, but now I think it's a "must").

No, I don't think they well get him at least this round. I think the Twins are going to ask for way to much, and don't think (and hope) that the Yankees will give up too much. I think Santana is available, for a vary steep price. I don't think the twins really want to get rid of him but if someone gives them their whole farm they will take it. There is a chance that the Yanks will get him (if no one else goes for it) through Free Agency next year.
