On this day in 1950 the "Big O" completed his "sweep" of taking over OUR Dodgers. He had already ousted Branch Rickey, and on this day he fired manager Burt Shotten and replaced him with Chuck Dressen, who was the manager of the Oakland team in the Pacific Coast League.
One could view this as his first move towards the west coast.
