For those of you who have not had the chance to see beautiful statue that sits outside Keyspan Park in Brooklyn. The Parachute jump and the Boardwalk are in the background. Somehow this image appears at the bottom of the post.

A beautfiully done homage to Ebbets Field adorns the wall of a building at the corner of Flatbush & Ocean (If I remember right)

The mantra, from inside the exhibit hall at Keyspan;

And the legend as he is today (ok, as he was back in April.)

thank you, pete, for the kind words. it was, indeed, a good day.

John Franco and Mo Vaughn were both at the ceremony and it was a shame that Vaughn, out of Seton Hall and one of the last active players to wear No. 42, wasn't called on to say a few words. he's terrific in front of an audience, but those politicos can maintain a death grip on a "live" mic.

Are there color pictures of Ebbets Field anywhere? I've seen color shots of the first game in LA and Ebbets Field stood for a couple of years after the move so I would think they must be out there somewhere?
