Oh please. :laugh

How good is this guy, by the way? Will he replace Borowski as the closer?

"He saved at least 20 games in each of the last seven seasons, and he tallied 227 saves and a 2.79 ERA for his career in Japan. Kobayashi's repertoire reportedly includes a fastball that maxes out in the mid-90s, a two-seam fastball that cuts in on right-handers and a mid-80s slider with a hard, downward break. He has a deceptive delivery that some have compared with that of Boston's dominant left-handed setup man, Hideki Okajima." - from the article

he has played 9 seasons so far. He's 33. i think it's a good signing by the Indians. 3rd best Japanese FA behind Kuroda and Fukudome IMO. I also know he went into a slump this year and miss some time from injuries.

He's been good, but he was recently injured, and there's always the risk of Japanese players not adapting well to the longer season and harder workload in MLB.

I think it's a good signing by Cleveland. He'll probably work out well enough. As for replacing Borowski? Maybe. Borowski led the league in saves, had an ERA over 5, and seven blown saves... he just didn't perform that well as a closer. Racked up the saves out of opportunities, not good pitching.
