It was sort of a given.

As expected, Alex Rodriguez was voted AL MVP. The vote was not unanimous. Two voters gave their first place vote to Maglio Ordonez.

anyone think arod has a chance to win more mvps then bonds? i mean we all know bonds mvps from 01-04 are a joke, but until mlb strips them away (which they probably wont) his "record" stands.

Have they released the vote totals yet? I mean, I knew Rodriguez would win and Magglio would do second, but how did everyone else do?

Haha, my thoughts exactly.
Being a Red Sox fan, I'm going to try not to be biased here. In fact, I'll even start out saying that I think A-rod should have won unanimously. With all of the pitching struggles the Yankees put up with in the first half of the season, they, in all likelihood, wouldn't have been the wild card winners without Rodriguez. Detroit would have at least been competitive without Ordonez, with Granderson and Polanco having fine years. But what really bugs me is how Ortiz did in the voting. I know the fact that he's a DH will always bring him down. But it's not like if there was no DH, he wouldn't be playing first. I've seen him play first and he knows how to scoop the ball out of the dirt, which is the biggest part. I can kind of see how Vlad got third place over Ortiz, even though Ortiz did better in pretty much every offensive category. I'm not sure the Angels would have gotten to the playoffs without him. But the thing that really kills me is how someone voted Ortiz ninth on their ballot. Can you honestly look at me with a straight face and tell me there were eight players who were more valuable than Big Papi?
I understand the voting will never occur the way it should statistically. It never has and it never will. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion but putting Ortiz ninth is ridiculous.

well deserved.

Looking down the list, how did Bobby Abreu get a 6th place vote?

There is a Michigan bias against A-Rod as I know.

Even better, he's 3 and a half times more valuable than Sizemore!

Why does a pitcher who didn't get a single Cy Young vote (J.J. Putz) get the most MVP votes?

As much as Arod was a mortal lock to win this award, Ordonez also had a monster, if not quite comparable, year.

I'd put Maggs third behind Granderson, who was unbelievable with the glove. Neither were more than a win behind ARod.

And as bad as the Abreu vote looks, he was definitely more valuable than Jeter this year. But to be talking about either one of them is crazy.
