So the question is, how many people now hate Buffett (and how many are thankful to him)?

I wonder how many people knew it was Warren and not Jimmy Buffett the story was talking about? Be honest now :eek:

Warren Buffett is one of the richest people in the country and he knows his stuff when it comes to money- ARod would have been a fool not to follow his advice...smart move on ARod's part.

Actually, I didn't even think of Jimmy. I just assumed it was Warren from the start...

I added "Warren" to the thread title, since I presume most are familiar with the 2nd richest man in the USA.

If anything, Warren simply gave A-Rod the same advice that Bernie Williams took after the 1998 season: come back to the Steinbrenners, say you wish to remain a Yankee for a long time, and you shall very likely remain a Yankee.

In the case of Bernie, he was being courted by Boston, since he was in his prime back then. In the case of Alex, because of his salary expectations, he likely wasn't being given serious consideration by many teams.

Alex did the right thing by leaving his impersonal and boorish agent (whom he'd had since he was 16, which is half his lifetime) at home. Those were the Yanks' requirements.

Bernie was also a Bora$ client, and the Yanks decide to "forget" that they'd considered the not-so-kind Albert Belle, an improbably choice to replace Bernie anyway, who'd been used to counter Bernie's consideration of Boston.

Even A-rod realizes that as intelligent as Boras may be, Warren Buffet is light-years smarter. Disregarding what Buffet had to say would be like ignoring financial advice from George Soros. Ditto for the Yankees' end of the phone. What the hell would any Steinbrenner say to a call from A-rod that began with the words, "Hi there. I was just chatting with Warren Buffet and he suggested that I maybe I ought to ring you up..." Think that would get attention?
