The chemical test for a substance must be specific. If more than one material produces a positive, the results cannot be accepted.

Plus the "positive" test is not proof that he knowingly used steroids. All the lawyers have to do, is raise a reasonable doubt, the he did not know what was going on. If he sticks to the "he (Anderson) told me it was flax seed oil" and they do not have physical prove of Barry injecting or administering steroids on himself or by someone else with his knowledge as to exactly what it is, he'll do what he does best, walk.

Why do you think that a few years ago Barry and his lawyer stated that he never "knowingly" used steroids.

I'm not a lawyer but I and some others saw right through the words spoken way back when "never knowingly." That was in case he was proven to use steroids which appears to be the case now. Hey... cut Barry some slack, he didn't know, he was lied to. Makes that perjury hard to prove... he didn't say he never did, he did not lie, he said never knowingly.

With that out of the way I agree with your post those words spoken a few years ago could save his rear end.

Not if:
-he was shown to use significant quantities
-he made significant purchases
-his trainer Anderson breaks

I do believe Anderson got sprung today, which may indicate he rolled over on Bonds.
But remember, kids, this is going to get tried in California. (Repeat that a few times to let it sink in.) Even though it's not going to be tried in state court, it will be tried in a court in that state. Anything--and I do mean anything--can happen in a case that goes before a California jury.

Wouldn't the mere fact that the grand jury is done deliberating lead to the automatic release of Anderson?

Looks guys, I think you are on the wrong track. They are prosecuting Barry because he denied ever talking with anyone about HGH. They just wanted him to incriminate someone else. I don't think they care what he did, they care what he talked about with bigger fish.

i believe so. at that point there is no reason to keep him in the hole.

My opinion Barry is never going to jail. With that said if all that we have read about in the last two days, positive test results, the paper trail this will make it a more convincing case that he did use steroids and his numbers, his records will always be suspect. There was much of the public that already thought that way and if more comes out of the recent revelation the cloud over his head gets darker and bigger.

The method of testing at Balco could be in question and was it before or after the ban. Could his lawyer make the case that tests by MLB never came up positive. Barry doing time, the only result of that would be sympathy by some even those that dislike him. Barry the martyr, I doubt that very much. I like most fans want to hear some names, it's not just Barry. I would like to hear the whole story, well that will never be........more names will do.

Jail or no jail every time some news comes out it just makes Barry look more guilty.........of using steroids.
