Would it be too much to switch the records of the Yankees and Red Sox.

By the way how did you make this prediction?

Would it be too much to switch the records of the Yankees and Red Sox.

By the way how did you make this prediction?

A situation at the ALE division is very clear.
IMO, The RedSox have better rotation and bullpen, the Yankees have better lineup... so I think Bosox could be the division winner once more.

I made my prediction based on 2007 team's record, their rosters, based on their farm system, prospects, payroll etc...

NLC
For ex. in the NLC division the Brewers have a bunch of very good youngest players, like Fielder, Braun, Hart, Hall, Hardy, Weeks, Galardo, Villanueva, Parra, Jackson and with a healthy Capuano...
and the Cards still have a regressive trend, with weak rotation, a mediocre lineup etc..
If the Cubs could acquire Fukudome or maybe C.Crawford then the situation could be changed for them.
BTW, Jacque Jones for Omar Infante?? I think it's mistake.

CAUTION: A summary of the wins and the losses are 2430, each.

The Reds will win more than 68 games this year. I'm not saying they'll be great (Dusty Baker is horrible), but they will at least be better than that.

shouldn't we wait and see how the free agent signings and trades playout. I don't think the FA's will have a huge impact on anything. The market lacks a true difference maker now, but if Miggy or Johan get moved it could change the dynamics significantly.

FA signings could have a huge impact, but till Nov/20 we have only a few remarkable trades:
Glavina --> ATL
Renteria --> DET
Jac.Jones --> DET
Garland --> LAA
and whatelse ??

I totally agree...:dance

but I do find it funny that the Braves are expected to win 91 gms....my question is how? by signing Glavine again? but yet losing Renteria and losing A.Jones soon.......they need alot of :hp to accomplish that feat imho

I think that the Red Sox will complete one of the most succesfull season in history in 2008(not quite like the St-Louis 1884 UA entry thought).

They have no weaknesses, strong starting and relief pitching, solid at every position, 2 youngters who just will get better (Pedroia and Ellsbury) and plenty of cash to patch up any holes (no holes that I can see) or injury to star players. They may very well end up with a 110-52 record or even better.

The Yankees will still be very good but their starting pitching is somewhat shaky and they don't look as intimidating offensively as they had a couple of years ago. Injuries to key players will cost them.

I even see the Jays making a run for the wild card if they finally can land the catcher they need. The rotation is very good, the bullpen solid. Offensively they just have to avoid long stay on the DL to remain competitive. They were crippled last year when Reed Johnson hurt himself badly, he was out until August.

Forget about the O's and Ray's.

Everybody's all nervous about the new, improved Tigers. But I say watch out for the White Sox. Orlando Cabrera has the tools to make this team much better.

In the AL West, the Angels are alone.

In the National League East the race will be decided between the Phils and the Mets. If Omar can find the one starting pitcher he need, the Mets will come out on top. The Braves are mainly in reconstruction mode.

This will be a big year for the Cubbies, even more so if they can fill the hole at closer (maybe Kerry Wood will turn out to be the solution). The Brewers will finish second.

For the first time in years, the NL West will become the strongest division by far in the league. San Diego, LA, Colorado and Arizona all have very good roster and can hope to land the top spot. Arizona however remains the favorite. As for the Giants, you can forget about them for some times. The only young bright light shining over there is Tim Lincecum and they are talking of even trading him.

They will be contenders. Espeacially in their division.

I made a prediction but I had to scratch everything I just wrote, if Johan lands somewhere it changes everything. I can't feel good about any predictions, what's Mark Prior going to do? Is Dan Haren first half Haren or second half Haren? What is Fukudome capable of? What can Dontrelle Willis do? I'll revisit this in March

What I'm waiting to see is what the Mariner's do (yes mostly because I am an M's fan :) ).

To think that a club with only a 104 OPS+ and a team ERA+ of only 91 (between a group of 4 pitchers, 68 starts were made by pitchers who had an average ERA+ of around 70!!!)

A huge saving grace was the bullpen.

But to think that the team had no real great hitters outside of Ichiro and still accomplised 88 wins is quite remarkable. I mean their "power" hitting 1Bman hit only .205 on the season with no remarkable show of power (only 21 HR).

So if Sexson can get back in the groove and give us 35-40 HR, and our prospect Adam Jones can handle the big leagues, on top of a couple decent additions to the starting rotation, then I think 90 wins isn't out of the question.

But I guess we will have to wait and see!

Now do I think it's probable? No, but 85 is a definite possibility.
