After purchasing the Papis Pirates and moving the team to Anaheim, new owner, Edwin Bupp, of the Amish Bupps, has decided to tear down the team and rebuild them. This is to insure there is no mistaking his team for any past, present, or future CKL team.
He started by dumping players who don't fit the image of the Badgers and the beautiful city of Anaheim, Then he went and traded away a 2nd round draft pick for some players who will play "Badgers Baseball'. Let that be fair warning to Clarke, Fryman and Tovar. Play ball or end up riding pine in the minors
Then he hit the 67 Rookie draft and with no picks in the 1st or 2nd round STILL managed to get a young pitcher with the credentials to be an all-star. We're talking about Joe Niekro, whose older brother, Phil, Is arlready on his way to Cooperstown.

After stealing Niekro he hit the Free Agent Auction and not only scored a MAJOR signing by outbidding the Leece Knights for Willie Stargell, but also getting those same Knights to overspend on some guy named Fregosi (what kind of name is that?)

After evaluating the new and improved Badgers, it looks like they will be making the first step to respectability in 67 by escaping the basement and MAYBE even challenging for 2nd place.

Stay tuned for the further adventures of "The Buppers Badgers" who, unfortunately, will be changing their names when the are no longer a basement team
