Lets all hope the Wilpons pay enough homage to the Mets at their new field. Remember, this is the Mets new field and NOT the Dodgers!!! To make the Mets new stadium look like the Dodgers old stadium still makes no sense to me!! We should be celebrating the Mets history and lore just like the Yankees and other teams do. This is a new MET stadium. Does anyone think the Yankees would EVER make a stadium to look or feel anything unlike their own!!! NEVER happen. Also lets pay tribute to our old mets and met teams and players. I know that Jackie Robinson is getting some accolades in the new stadium and thats fine. But the Dodgers are still in existence and they should be paying him tribute not the METS!! THE METS should be focused on paying tribute to their greats like Seaver, Koosman, and Piazza!!! Lets bleed orange and blue only!!!!!

I agree with you one hundred percent (100%).
However, just to play devil's advocate...
Although Jackie Robinson never played for the Mets, he never actually played in Los Angeles, either. He spent his entire career playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers, a National League ballclub based in the City of New York.
So, in that context, there is a rationale for the Mets - like the Brooklyn Dodgers, a National League ballclub based in the City of New York - to name something in Jackie's honor.

hey skyking i remember the ''fallout shelter ''in left field beyond the fence , actually on the lampposts around the perimeter of shea - thats great! also its ''skyking'', never'' king kong'' as the moody kingman would have it. anyway, as i mentioned on another thread about retiring yogis number, yes youre right on about the mets needing to pay homage to their own rich history. it should be oozing with met moments and facts etc. let the dodgers take care of jackie. lets go mets!!!

Yes, but the Dodgers are still in existence, and that was Jackie Robinsons team, so they should be honoring him, not the Mets!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, but Robinson played for the DODGERS, and not the METS. As long as the Dodgers are still around they should be honoring their own.....
