Yes, that's pretty funny. And yes, it also brings back some great memories of the classic ALCS against the Yankees in 2004.
The article says 'Leskanic was present as Boston defeated the Yankees in the ALCS and went on the win the World Series.' I seem to remember him as being somewhat more than just 'present' since he pitched the last 1-1/3 innings against the Yankees in ALCS Game 4 (the one in which Dave Roberts, long before Curt came in to pitch, won everybody in America a taco that they had to buy for themselves).
Curt came in with the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the 11th. He got Bernie Williams to fly out to Damon and let us all breathe again.
In the top of the 12th, Posada singled, and went to second when Sierra grounded out to Leskanic. Tony Clark flied out to Manny for the second out. Leskanic struck out Miguel Cairo to end the inning, stranding Posada at second.
In the bottom of the 12th, Manny led off with a single, and Big Papi whacked it out for the win. Leskanic was the winning pitcher.
Curt was present for that game the same way Dave Roberts was present, and the same way Big Papi was present.

The Onion's Sport page has been outstanding lately.
They also posted an article this week how A-Rod saved baseball fans from a week of boredom by announcing his opt-out. Worth a read, as the Onion usually is.
