I don't understand yo-yo not making it (solid bullpen option and possible Game 4/emergency starter) and Snyder, Lopez(18.00 ERA in ALCS), and Gagne making it. I also rather have a Wakefield with a 1% of being able to play late in the series over Gagne.

I agree on the Tavarez issue. Maybe there is an injury. I would rather him then Snyder. I guess if Lester is starting Game 4, Lopez is your "lefty specialist" although he doesn't scare to many hitters. Gange puzzles me. Will Tito really use him in a tight game?

Tavarez should be there if Wake can't go. Lester was 4-0 in 11 starts in the regular season. He should be game four starter.

I don't get the lovefest with Julian, to tell you the truth. I'm personally glad he's not on the roster.

Julian is scary because he wasn't too good this year and has given up a lot of really big postseason HRs, but I think that he's a more attractive option than Gagne at this point. I think that Eric is just playing under a black cloud at this point, probably can't wait for the season to end and get the heck out of Boston.

Seriously ANYone but GAGne! Julian Tavarez was very good for a 5th starter this season. And with Wake out you need another long man. This is just a wasted roster spot.

Fortunately Tito hasn't lost all his marbles & is going with Jacoby over Coco.

I'd rather see Tavarez on the hill than either Gagne or Snyder.

I fail to see the logic of it, either. We can only "trust" Gagne in absolute blowouts, and how many of those are we likely to see?

I personally like Snyder. I think he has better stuff than Tavarez. He's spotty, but so is Julian -- Gagne, on the other hand, has been terrible. I hope he proves everyone wrong... or that he doesn't get the chance to.

I was thinking about this alot last night, and I have the feeling that in order to get Gange to accept a trade to Boston, they had to promise some things. Like pitching in the playoffs, and at least being on the roster. That's really the only explanation for that. Really there isn't any good reason for Gagne to be on the roster unless the Sox promised him that he would be a part of the WS if they made it that far. If you remember back, there was alot of talk when Gagne came over that he was "here to compete, and win a WS", so I have a feeling he's on the roster because it was understood that if he accepted the trade he would be.

I sort of think it has more to do with Theo's EGO.

That's my thinking as well. Trying to prove it wasn't a bad move when that's exactly what it has turned out to be. And to think, I didn't like Theo before this move.. Now...

Yeah, I was behind Theo, but as more time passes I think he's not a very good GM. Obviously he's done a very good job with getting our farm system in great shape, however most of the trades, and FA signing's that he's done have been horrible. Mirabelli for Bard and Merideth is on that sticks out. Lugo signing, the Drew signing was a head scratcher, Renteria, NOT re-signing Cabrera, Even the deal for Coco Crisp that seemed very good at the time doesn't really look all that spectacular. Gagne obviously has been horrible. Add in the fact that the Sox made the Beckett/Lowell deal when Theo was in exile, and his track record with major league talent doesn't look that great. Obviously they do a great job with getting the farm system in fantastic shape, but we won despite alot of Theo's moves this year.

Just what a lot of us thought....Lester will pitch Game 4.
