Hello. I hope many as possible join this. The rules are simple: I will post several questions every so often. People will answer them, and I will reward one point to every correct answer. Then, I will keep track of who has answered the most questions correctly, and post the people. Some questions will be worth 2 points.
Here is the first set just to get started:
1) Who holds the record for having the most consecutive seasons as a team leader in a category?
2) This player starred in a movie and was the first to do so.
3) Had the most walks of the 1950's.
Please not that next time there will be more questions that are more challenging.

I didn't search here, but in looking over the "birthplaces" section of Baseball-Almanac a guy named Al Cabrera was born in the Canary Islands, which is just off the coast of Africa. He played one game for the 1913 Cardinals.
I'm just not sure if he would have ever been an "African-American" since he died in Cuba.

Ed Porray was born on a ship near the Canary Islands as well, and he played three games in the Federal League for Buffalo (died in PA, too, so he was probably African-American).

If you were born in the Canary Islands wouldn't that make you Spanish American even if you became a US citizen?

Yes, technically, but the Canary Islands are part of Africa as well. I think.

4) Who is the only pitcher since 1901 to throw a no-hitter but ner a regular shutout?
4) Ed Lafitte
I don't understand this question. Lafitte pitched the first no-hitter in the Federal League in 1914. According to Baseball Reference (http://www.baseball-reference.com/l/lafited01.shtml) he threw a shutout in 1915. So it looks like he did have a no-hitter and a regular shutout.
1) Who was the first african-american player in the Major leagues for the 20th century? (be careful!)That one has been asked and answered so many times on this forum that it has become trite. Seriously, used the search function.I used the search function and came up with 2 times this question was asked. The only thing that's becoming "trite" is your comments that add nothing to these threads.
On the other hand Jimmy Claxton played for the Oakland Oaks of the Pacific Coast League. While the Federal League and the Pacific Coast League are considered part of Organized Baseball I think it would be a stretch to consider them Major Leagues.

And I don't see how Clay Buchholz is wrong.

Jimmy Claxton didn't pitch in any of the recognized major leagues. He did log some innings with the Oakland Oaks in the PCL, and that was a good league during that era... but it isn't acknowledged to be a MLB team.
I can't find any record of him pitching in the Federal League.
So who was the first African-American to play major league baseball in the 20th century?
