It's always been my understanding that when a schedule is posted using 'vs' that the VISITING TEAM is listed first followed by the HOME TEAM. e.g., "Boston Red Sox vs. Cleveland Indians" would siginfy in this particular game the Red Sox are the visiting team.

Is this not so?.. Is there any official source citing, like the AP style guide or Baseball almanack that defines this?

I do understand that in many cases, the @ symbol is now being used to really clarify the situation, but I'm being 'old school' here.

Thoughts?

If you are talking about today's game, it IS in Cleveland - hence the big question of why there is a layoff day if the teams are not traveling.

Typically school schedules are as follows

Smith HS Vs Jones HS - means Smith is playing Jones home.
Smith @ Jones - means Smith is playing at Jones
