Has anyone here ever heard of a player (hoping for a major-leaguer) that managed to hit a pitch that was intended to be part of a four-pitch intentional walk for a homerun? What I have in mind is a guy at bat who reaches way out to hit a pitch out of the park... :crossfingers: Many thanks for your time.

Kelly Leak did it back in 1976

And then of course the opposite, Rollie Fingers "intentional walk" to Bench on 10/18/72 where he struck him out :laugh

Yes, Gary Cooper in 1942 pretending to be in 1926. Walter Brennen, up in the press box, got so excited that he started beating up on Dan Duryea.

He actually hit it for a triple, and was out trying to stretch it into a homerun

Bench was probably the only one in the United States who didn't know Fingers was going to throw the ball down the middle. I remember screaming at the TV where the pitch was going.

I remember Harry Chiti, a slow-footed Cubs' catcher, reaching out and hitting the pitch over the first baseman's head for a double.

BobIf his teammates didn't warn him, they probably didn't know either
