Do they work? Also if they do, what are the best ways to use them?

Yes they work and are used at short distances. Great for gym work.

Yes, def. great especialy for northern teams stuck in a gym as Jake mentioned. Plus they can add a little fun (and frustration!) to practice.

What drills are good? Will just lightly throwing it off a wall and feilding it like a baseball help (more after helping hitting)?

You're better off with a partner throwing the ball after you're set. Throwing it off a wall may be unproductive...

What makes it unporductive? Is it because I may not be set?

It's better to get in a set ready position and then react. If bouncing it off the wall works for you then have fun! Adjust you distance from the wall - you may get different results.

Ok, great, thanks for the advice.
