How do you perform the torque drill?

All of Epstein's drills are copyrighted, and for this reason no one posts them. If you want to find out what they are, you need to buy his DVD. It's his intellectual property.

Jim,
I do not believe the action themselves (drills) can be copyrighted unless they are significantly different from whats been around for some time. What he can copyright is his explanations on his DVD. Others can't use his film without permission.

I would not call these model swings.

I would not call these model swings.

True, they are not 'model' swings. They are examples of Epstein's students demonstrating The Torque Drill. There is a lot of commonality between the students which suggests that the drill is being followed per a common set of instructions.

playa92, don't let it get you down. It's only illegal to buy/sell the publication but not to pass along the info. If you can't get it here maybe you can somewhere else so don't give up.

The publication is protected but not the content.

I told myself I wouldn't enage, but you guys constantly want to put him down and your backing it JAKE. 2 of these kids signed minor league contracts this year. ALSO the drills your showing are not the torque drill.

Those are practice swings, they are NOT the "Torque Drill"

In the "Torque Drill" your feet are locked in place, stationary. You wind up the upper body and then practice unwinding the upper body, and unwinding it with correct lag of the bat. Using rotation to swing the bat, not the arms.

The Numbers drill is more like a swing and the clips above are swings with all the elements in them, but not necessarily the setup and swing you would take into a game. They are swings focused on practicing how to swing with pure rotation.

I am not certain how you could extrapolate my opinions about swings posted here as putting down Epstein. If I'm missing something please send me a PM

Virg said: "The publication is protected but not the content."Virg, you're close here, but not exactly right. It is the form of expression that is protected. If you were to transcribe all the words uttered by Epstein or his minions on his DVD and make them into a separate book and sell it, you'd likely violate his copyright because you're exploiting the means in which he expressed the importance of the drills and how they should be done and the order that they should be done, etc.

But, a mere description of the functional attributes of a drill are likely not protected by the copyright laws. However, it is possible that the agreement by whcih one purchases Epstein's DVD contains a contractual agreeement to not divulge the techniques taught on the DVD, and a court may well honor that contractual agreement to prevent you from describing individual drills elsewhere. (This would be subject to reasonable limits -- if I include in my DVD a demonstration about how to do jumping jacks, no court is going to enjoin me from publishing a book that contains instructions on jumping jacks, even if I've agreed not to use any of your drills.)
