Only one team in the past 50 years (1958-2007) has averaged under 5,000 fans per game for the entire season. Name the team, the year, and the approximate attendance. This MAY be an easy one for some.

I'll guess Montreal in 1998. I was there for a game that summer and it was very empty.

I won't give it away, but I will say that only about 300,000 hometown fans got to see the "greatest of all-time" play in his rookie year. :p

Oakland '79 it is. Season average attendance was 3700 and change. Amazing how a franchise could fall so far so fast.
