Get Ted Williams' Science of Hitting and read it about 15 times. And understand about cocking your hips as you stride.

Williams writes "The hips and hands cock as you move your lead foot to stride, the front knee turning in to help the hips rotate back. You are cocking your hips as you stride, and it's so important to get that right."
Tejada does what Williams writes.
I'm no expert or hitting instructor, or involved in these "internet hitting wars" but the most sucessful hitters in today's game and the hall of famers all do what the greatest hitter of all times says you need to do. Check out the HOF website, you'll see all the old timers, Ott, Foxx, Ruth, Hornsby, etc. cock their hands and hips. Or Tip and Rip as Dmac used to say.

What did Ted Williams mean when he wrote "You start thinking in terms of going through the box."?
What did he mean by "going through the box"?

I see the "hip cock". What I don't see is the "hand cock". Could someone please describe the "hand cock" action.

I think eagle is talking about how Tejada tips the barrel towards the plate before he swings. The only way you can tell from that side clip used by eagle is before he loads up the barrel has a glare from the lights and when it tips forward the glare is gone. Ted Williams did this some what but his barrel started straight up but it didn't move a whole lot from there until he swung. Is that what you meant Eagle? If I am wrong then please correct me.

This action is the "tip" in tip and rip. Some point the bat at the pitcher, some pump the hands, some stack the hands. Something to prime the forearms and get the hands active.
