That's my question, the A's won 8 pennants and 5 world series. the phillies up to the point of the move had won only two pennants. I know the a's hadn't been a very good team for a long time, but I think in 48 they were at least in contention. in 50 the phills won the pennant and then reverted to their normal ( bad ) play. I remember going to shibe park and seeing the ad where it said the phillies use life bouy and someones scrawled under it "and they still stink". I think If the new owner ship had been smart they would have stayed in philly and all the a's championships of the 70's and late 80's early nineties would have been won there. Isn't it funny how they seem to win pennants in threes. I'm a brooklyn dodger fan, but I alway's thought the a's were cool. I was alway's pulling for them in the AL. battlin bake, the dodger dynamo

Bake-we've discussed this before-check out this thread titled "Philadelphia-An American League town?" (http://www.baseball-fever.com/showthread.php?t=21498). This may help explain why the A's left and the Phillies stayed in the City of Brotherly Love.

ok, thanks, I'm not up on the a's, because like I say I really followed the dodgers, I appreciate the heads up. oh, by the way the nationals should change their name officially to "senators" I think that would be cool. battlin bake, the dodger dynamo
