I'd go for personal preference, which is more confortable.... looks better, whatever.... which you like more.

depends on your size. most small guys arent comfortable in mizuno.

Check out the new wilson mask - it has pistons in it, to reduce ball shock when it hits the mask

It's official, starting in 2008, Wilson is the Official Protective Gear of Major League Baseball. Through constant innovation of ground breaking products and dedication to putting the best equipment on the field, Wilson was the choice of MLB for their catcher's gear. The newest addition to the catcher's gear line, the revolutionary Shock FX catcher's mask 4-Piston design diffuses the energy when a ball impacts the mask, giving players the confidence they need to reach Championship Performance.

I like the old school Wilson chest protector Ivan Rodriguez uses. Thats the kind I use. I have used others before, but they all let the ball bounce alot further away when blocking pitches.

I really dislike how the Mizuno gear looks.

It is personal choice.

One thing to look for in a chest protector. Make sure to try to find one that is as flat as possible. A lot of the new protectors like the Louisville, Reebok, and some others have gotten a little fancy with their designs, but when the balls rebounds off of them, the ball goes all over.

Personally, I like the Nike protectors the best of all of the ones out there right now. I like the All-Star hockey helmets the most.

But again, it is all personal choice.

I like the All-Star hockey helmets the most.

If you watch the playoffs, you're going to see fewer hockey-style masks (and more old-style masks) than you did a year ago. That's because hockey-style masks have been linked with higher rates of concussions.

thats true, but unfortuately, NFHS regulates that a catchers helmet must be a one piece that coveres the ears. So us highschoolers cant really use the traditional mask (only during practice!)

on catchers gear, look for the one that fits the best and feels the comfiest. Chest protectors: i preferr one of the older styles, with orlon padding
Leg guards, legs need protection! triple knee and double toe! also go light
Helmet: All Star helmets protect the best.

well i have the louisville slugger that he was showing in an earlier post. im 5'10 and weigh about 160 lbs. so i dont think the size thing is a problem. im just wondering which one performs better. i mean like which one has less rebound and things like that.

theres only one player i know of under 200 pounds that wears mizuno, and thats 185 pound-Robby Hammock. so unless you'll be putting on 40 pounds by time you use the gear, i wouldnt recommend the mizuno gear for you.

yes which one rebounds less is a good question. although i did see my son double over in pain because of a foul tip that hit him in the memory foam.

after that i started looking for safety
