Where was Clarence "Pants" Rowland playing in 1900?

According to his obit, his playing career began in Dubuque in 1903. Maybe he was playing semi-pro ball in 1900.

I recently read a 1952 interview where Clark Griffith said that Pants Rowland introduced him to his future wife in 1900. Trying to figure how they connect.
