Milt Pappas is the only non-HoFer to reach this career milestone.

I was going to say won 100 games each in both leagues, but he only won 99 in the NL. Does it have something to do with the fact that his career was almost evenly split between two leagues?

It has nothing to do with the team or the league.

11 straight seasons with win totals in the double digits?

The only HoFers to have done this are Pud Galvin, Lefty Grove and Bob Feller.

How about 14 seasons in double digits?

It's gotta be something along these lines.

How about 14 seasons in double digits?

It's gotta be something along these lines.

Considering Sutton, Ryan, and Maddux all have 20 or more seasons of double digit wins it doesn't.

This is not something they did from the mound.

The reason 500 Ks by a pitcher batting is so rare I'm guessing is that in the 1800s and in the dead-ball era, strikeouts were not counted with regularity and as you run into the late 60s and 70s you get the DH and rarity of complete games cutting into ABs and therefore Ks. In the in-between period, you have to be a good pitcher to get that many ABs ... hence the HofF connection. (Being a poor, free-swinging batter, as apparently Lefty, Pud, Bob and Milt were adds to the equation.) Milt was just good enough as a pitcher to get a lot of whacks as a batter: he is 66 on the career games-started list (a list with a lot of early names of course) and 37 on the career shutouts list and on the leaderboard seven times for CGs (it seems Uncle Miltie was generally trusted not to tire late and was left in to bat for himself). Good trivia question with a nice twist!
