Yes it would be nice to be in the playoffs. Although I was really hoping for a tie between the Mets and the Phils to play it off today. I wanted the Mets to knock them out themselves but anyway.........

A big part of me is happy they arent in because as a baseball fan I hate watching their antics. Saturday during their 13-0 over the Fish I should have been happy about winning the game, and the awesome game Maine was tossing. I was, but watching Milledge and Reyes celebrating, and dancing after hitting a homer that makes it 9-0 just shows how far away this team is from having the guts and leadership to be a championship team.

Their is a fine line between enthusiasm and classlessness in sports. The Mets in my opinion cross that line quite often. The biggest problem is the absolute fact is that the team doesnt have a real leader or leaders. David Wright is probably still too young himself with guys like Alou and Delgado on the team. Alou and Delgado carry themself with class but that doesnt mean they lead. They need someone to tell guys like Milledge, Reyes, etc. "we dont act that way here, make believe you hit a homer before".

Besides all that ...they just quit on themselves. They lost their hustle, and their edge. Let the Phils play. They never died and never quit...something the Mets did last week sometime.

Living in NY I get to see a lot of Yankee games too. What a difference in the way the teams carry themselves. Its like watching two teams....one professional and one high school team.

I agree. I liked Bannister a lot and he has class like Maine. Minaya the moron gave him away for nothing. I was royally pissed off when he did that at the time, moreso now

I'm not really happy but I hope this erases finally the smug arrogance that the Mets players and fellow Mets fans have had the last 2 seasons that the NL Pennant was theirs to win all year, they were entitled and that they could just go on cruise control. Two good seasons in a row, but no World Series appearance or title to show for it.

Kind of reminds me about the 1984-85 Mets who developed the same kind of arrogance despite not winning anything. I believe that Whitey Herzog was quoting in early 1986 as saying that "in the Mets mind, they've won back to back NL East titles" or something to that sort. As a college kid in NYC back then I was all for what the Mets were doing/saying and hated the Cardinals with a passion, but as one gets older and matures, you realize that childish immature behavior is just that, childish and immature.

I coulndt agree more, but that Mets team had some leadership and you knew that team would pull it together. I dont mind a little swagger, but the 2007 version has no clue.

It seemed like they played as if the season was over since June. Jose, despite saying all the right things, went into a pout after the benching for not running to first.

I would have liked to see the Mets win but with Delgado with a broken hand I'm afraid they wouldn't go very far in the playoffs.
