Tuesday, during the A's and Red Sox game, one brother Ruddy Luggo, A's ,pitched to
another, Julio, Sox. The last time it happened was 5 years ago with the Benes brothers, Alan of the Red Birds and Andy a Cubbie, faced off. Pretty cool. :clapping

And Julio was jokingly taunting his brother.

Brother pitchers facing each other is much more common than a brother pitching to his brother the position player. That is what made the Lugo situation last night a little unusual. Possibly the last time this occurred was when P Ken Brett, Twins, faced 3B George Brett on 05-20-1979.

If the brother pitchers happen to be in the NL then they would pitch to each other when ever they faced off. (assuming they are both starters)

It was in either 1959 or 1960, but in a Spring Training intrasquad game, Larry Sherry threw at his brother, Norm. Norm jokingly shouted "I'm going to tell Mom!" while pointing his bat toward Larry.

Isn't that what I said? Brothers tend to either be just pitchers or just position players. You don't see many with one a pitcher and the other a position player.

Hey if Ruddy had plunked him, he could have gotten him back for that time when they were kids and Julio finished off the Captain Crunch without asking Ruddy first!
;)

J.D. Drew, Red Sox, and his brother Stephen, Diamondbacks, are both playing in the playoffs. How often does that happen?

In 2004 and 2005, the Molina brothers (Bengie, Jose and Yadier) all played in the playoffs, the first 2 in the same team.
In 1999-2001, Roberto and Sandy Alomar played together in the playoffs with the Indians, while in 1996 and 1997 they played each other in the playoffs as well.
