vote on the fate of #756

marc ecko decided that he will allow the public to determine the fate of home run #756.

the 3 choices from which to choose for this poll:
1. donate the ball to the hall of fame;
2. permanently mark the ball with an asterisk before sending it to cooperstown;
3. put the ball on a rocket ship and launch it into space.

what say you?

I would send it with the asterisk. Why? Because it would cause controversy, just as this whole home run chase has. I don't mean it personaly against Bonds, but seeing that asterisk on the ball would stir up memories of the whole crazy ordeal that this chase was.

i really could care less. the ball means squat to me, and to real baseball fans everywhere. blow it up, or give it to the hof, doesn't matter to me. nobody will ever regard it as a cherished part of baseball history.

I'd say hold on to it for a few years, then see if the HoF wants it. If they do, then give it to them.

P.S: For those who will say that Bonds breaking the record is a dark moment in baseball history, the Hall has memorabilia from the Black Sox scandal.

That "nobody" encompasses a lot of people you know. I take it to include me. And to me, it IS a cherished part of baseball history.

i completely disagree this ball should be sold because if mark mcguires 500 ball was sold for a few million this ball is the new record even if it was hit by bonds its still not gonna change the fact that he broke the record as u can probably tell i dont like bonds either but blowing up the ball would be like throwing out 2 or 3 million dollars
