Kenny Rogers has just picked off Jason Michaels in the 6th inning of today's Tigers-Indians game. That gives him 91 in his career tying him with Mark Langston.

Congratulations to Mr. Rogers:clapping

Pickoffs in this era are tainted, and did you adjust for ballpark? I mean come on, I could pick a guy off in the Ballpark at Arlington.;)

One guy who cheated in the world-series is being celebrated, while another who allegedly cheated to break a homerun record is loathed.

Interesting...

Almost as interesting as how you say unequivocally that Rodgers cheated but add "allegedly" in in front of your accusation when speaking of Bonds...

LOL :disbelief:

Well, Bonds did test positive for Greenies, so you are right. But wasn't Rogers caught?

Umps determined it was dirt and it was gone by the 2nd inning. Anything else is just a matter of unproved IMO's. If he was caught brown handed with pine tar on his hand wouldn't he have been kicked out. Besides, how does pine tar help on a pick off for the record Rogers just tied. It's getting to be a shame that a player can't be applauded for his accomplishments any more without someone always bringing up some scandal on the player.

. . . but I'm pretty sure I saw you in the Detroit clubhouse with some pinetar-to-dirt converter . . .
. . . and then later I saw you talking with LaRussa

While that's amusing, in a way you have a point - they didn't use to track pickoffs. Cy Young has 0! Rogers has the record but it's sort of tainted because of that....

Other than that, it's neat because it's no easier to pick a guy off at Coors, indoors, on turf, etc. I guess the only ballpark effect would be outdoors in pouring rain - the guy could slip in the mud....
