Cantilever deck construction has been at the center of the debates of the likes and dislikes of parks such as Petco or Busch III and the new Nationals ballpark and New Yankee Stadium. I can't see how anyone would like a deck design like NYS or the new Nationals park the doesn't take advantage of it. Here are some photos I took at the Cardinals game yesterday. I just love the way the seating deck is designed in left field as shown in my last photo. I'm curious to see other people's photos showing the benefits of designing a stadium this way. I'm really interested in seeing photos of Petco Park. From what I hear it it the best example of the modern stadium using cantilevers.

so, nobody has any personal ballpark photos showing good shots of Petco Park's cantilever decks?

I don't have a picture, but here it a cross-section of Petco:

The actual club level cantilever is a little different, but very similar.

Great pics Laferty. Petco is one of the nicest new parks out there. Very original design. The only thing I dislike is all of the unnecessary angles of the fences.
Neat diagram pudgie. Where did you get it? I wish I could find some cross section diagrams of Busch III. I think the cross section comparison of Shea and Citi Field are awesome. I wish there was some sort of comparison for Busch II and Busch III.

Clem's site (http://www.andrewclem.com/Baseball/index.shtml) has cross sections of both, though they're just approximations and aren't always correct (for example, somehow the Loge at Shea isn't shown as a distinct deck).

I love going to Clem's site, but I was referring to the type of cross sections shown of the Petco one on this thread.

The Loge is essentially on the same level as the field boxes. At their widest point, the last row of the field boxes is essentially on the same rake as the first row of the Loge boxes.

Right. So that's why it's easy to misinterpret it as just one level. But as we know as Mets fans, they are two seperate levels with two seperate concourses, and you can't cross between them (unless you want to get kicked out of Shea) without going up and down the ramps.

He's consistent though. All of his 70s cookie-cutters have the same "error" in their diagrams (Riverfront, etc.). As you can tell, his diagrams don't plot concourses, only seating areas.
