Before last nights game we had 22 games left. Now we have 21 and all of them are against division foes. 9 are against the Backs and Padres and 6 out of those 9 are at home.

I believe we need to win 16 out of those 22 in order to either win the division or make the playoffs.

However, if we get swept once we probably will be out.

How many games out of those 22 do you think we need to win in order to make the playoffs. I should have posted this question before last nights game but just pretend they haven't played.

Division is pretty much out of the question now. Overcoming a deficit of 5.5 with only 19 games to play? Nah.

Wild card is still highly probable. 12-7 would put us at 87-75, which could well be enough. That's really not to much to ask for and the two competitors (Philadelphia/San Diego) are hardly dominating out there. The upcoming series with SD is really the most important of anything left. If we can do well enough to even gain a game on them, we'd be only 1.5 out with 16 to play. Easily doable. If we swept San Diego, we'd take the lead, yada yada. They could even go 1-2 against SD and only be 3.5 back with 16 to go, but then we're hedging our bets on a run that this team doesn't seem capable of.

However, if they're swept by San Diego, I'm throwing in the towel.

The only way the Dodgers can contend is winning at least 2 against San Diego. And given that we've only won 1 out of the last 5 series against division opponents, it doesn't look good. If we win 2 out of 3, we'd be 1˝ GB and if we sweep, we take the lead. And that's not taking into account the COL/PHI series this week.

We did win 2 out of 3. :applaud: Another important series starting tonight. I was at the game on Tuesday. It was aweful. Loaiza wasn't sharp at all, walked the bases loaded in the first, gave up 2 runs. I'm sure you all know the rest.

2 out of 3 is decent. But since we didn't sweep them we only gained 1 game which means we still have to hope we can gain ground by winning when they lose games. If we had swept them we would be right in front of them which would mean we could still be okay losing games at certain times. Considering our schedule ahead I just think we really needed a sweep.

on a run that this team doesn't seem capable of.

Exactly, we need to start a 8-10 game winning streak tomorrow to have any shot. Like that's gonna happen.

Phils, Pads, Dbacks aren't losing. The Padres play a series with the freakin' Pirates for crying out loud. Looks like the Dbacks might not fade after all. No way we're gonna catch 2 of those 3 teams with 13 games to go.

I admire the Dodgers for staying in it so long, but I have to say it's hopeless at this point, unless "we get on a run that this team doesn't seem capable of." This team really isn't a playoff team. A playoff team would of taken care of the Giants in Frisco that last series, not lose 2 games in the 9th. Notice the Padres had no trouble taking care of business.

It was nice while it lasted, folks. We were the sexy pick for going to the World Series this year, and injuries, inexperience, and poor hitting just did us in. Maybe Colleti will make the needed adjustments this offseason.

Wait 'til next year!

I think you said it perfect, Dodgers just aren't a playoff team.
