Hopefully Ian kennedys first start today, in which he looked very good, will keep Moose from starting another game this season. Most important of all, Kennedy earned a win for his team.

Can't argue with that. He went seven innings too.

He threw strikes which is more than Mussina can say. I like him. It should be interesting to see who starts game four in the playoffs if they make it.

I had work today and just got home. But I got to watch Kennedy's last at bat of the game. I saw his fastball was about 90 and he had great location. What pitches was he throwing, and at what speeds? Was the velocity consistant? I'm going to guess his command was good.
And why was Vizcaino brought in? What about Edwar Ramirez or Farns? I don't see the point of bringing our setup man into a six run game. Atleast Mo shut the Rays down.

I was at the game today, and I'll say he pitched very well. Besides the high pitch count that he had, and the second inning, I think he was great. He couldv'e pitched into the 8th today if A-Rod hadn't dropped that foul pop up but what are you gonna do. I already have nickname for him: "I shall call him mini-Moose." He really did look like Moose with his delivery today it was kinda funny.

congrats to ian kenneday. However torre nearly lost this game for us. Really was there a truly logical reason why we couldn't have had kenneday in the eigth. And pitch count doesn't really work with me because he is after all a young kid from the minors.

Probably wanted him to leave on a high note. Also he is near his innings limit for the season so maybe saving some of his innings for his next start.

Ian Kennedy likely got remove due to the typical over-protective behavior of not just New York, but every team in MLB. Torre shouldn't be blame for him being removed. Vizcaino need work since he didn't work since Wednesday. The game nearly got blown by Vizcaino's poor performance.

Ian Kennedy owns on his 1st start. Hopefully it's a sign of things to come. If it is, our awesome future of our pitching staff keeps getting better.

Kennedy was a 100 pitch limit.
And I think he was at 90-something.
A great game by Kennedy...I hope Cash sticks to his word when he said Kennedy will be in the rotation going forward.

Cashman has absolutely no say in who pitches and when. I take that back, he can say and suggest all he wishes to anytime he wishes. But only one man makes the final decision. Joe Torre is that man.

I seriously don't know if I should even respond to this....but I just have a fondness for rebuttals.
Joe Torre has input on pitching...but he does not have the final say.
If Joe Torre gets the final decision on pitchers then why do we have "Joba Rules"?
FYI: If it was upto Torre Mussina would still be in the rotation.
I seriously don't understand your love affair with Joe Torre and Derek Jeter.

Maybe Torre decides who will pitch, but the club will decide how long the youngsters will stay in. In fact that is not strange. When you look to the minors, except for the Marlins, every organisation has pitch limits for pitchers.

I'm not suggesting Cashman is telling Torre what the lineup is, but using a Bill Parcells reference here...I'm sure Cashman is buying the groceries while Torre does the cooking.
I mean let's ask Art Howe about Billy Beane's input as far as pitching goes. ;)

He can actually be pretty reasonable when you understand his PoV

The team does have limits though. I`m sure Torre would use Joba every day if the toher guys said he could. He said himself that he wanted the Joba rules losened.

Most pitchers have pitch count of some sort. Youngsters for sure. The so called Joba rules are likely a good thing. Look how Leyland ruined Zumaya. One must be cautious with hard throwers until major arm strenght is totally developed.

Understanding the WIN METHOD is awesome. It really gives a fantastic real world perspective on the game.
