Very LA-like.
Reminds me of the renovations recently done to Dolphin Stadium, except geared for baseball, of course.

Nice. The clubs have an interesting look, and the wider concourses should be great.

Yea it does look cool, i just think it would be better if we see some Mets uniforms hanging on the walls, hahaa Just kidding.(inside new Mets rotunda joke) Looks pretty sweet. All that will be done by start of 2008?? Any pics of what those concourses look like now??? So i can compare the differences..

The design is very similar to the Tengu sushi bar in Santa Monica.

I am glad to see McCourt has embraced Dodger Stadium as a palace of baseball and it should not see the wrecking ball for a long, long time.
It is the only good ballpark to come out of the cookie cutter generation. Is it any coincidence that it is in such great shape and it happens to be the only park of that time which was not a multi-purpose facility... I think not
Dodger Stadium is at the top of my list of parks which I have not seen.

I like some of the changes, while others I'm a little less than thrilled about. The overriding positive is that McCourt is definitely dedicated to keeping Dodger Stadium for a long long time, which will outweigh the nouveau-60's look in the seating and club areas becoming dated again in a few years. If you have an uninterested ownership group, that dated look will last for years and years, bringing down the feel of the park.
Love the font they use around the park, on the silver letters. Couldn't be happier on that front.

Dated to whom? That seating color scheme IS Dodger Stadium, and it fits perfectly within the mid-century modern design of the building. Dodger stadium beats to the drum of Dodger fans who love the classic look. As for the clubs, if in 20 years they need a different theme (all 5 clubs have different design themes) all they have to do is change the furniture and curtains, so to speak.

The color scheme may be dodger stadium, but it wasn't dodger stadium for a couple of decades. Times and tastes change, and obviously someone got sick of the pastels and decided on the blue, red and yellow of the 80's and 90's. As far as we know right now, in 2020 they may repaint the seats brown and green.
At least McCourt wants it to look nice either way, and will keep up with it as long as he's there.

I went to Dodger Stadium for the first time this summer, it's a great place to see a game. My only complaint with the park was how hard it was to get between levels. I was in the second deck behind the third-base dugout, but the only way we found to get from the parking lot at the top level was a long, dark staircase. Maybe there are other ways to get around but the usher pointed us there. Once you're inside the seats, it's a great park, but the upper councourse area's stuck in the time period between modern and new and charming and old. I'd like to see them keep the new-age 60's going with a little freshening outside and in the upper concourse areas
Amazing how much nicer Dodger Stadium is than Shea, which opened right around the same time

Yes, all renovations ($70 million worth) will be done this off-season, with all the remaining levels to be completed by 2010-11.

Yes and no. Dodger stadium has ALWAYS had yellow, orange and blue seats. The stadium was only 12 years old when they replace the original pastel wood seats with plastic seats. They still kept the basic color scheme, just with more saturated colors, with the exception of the top deck which went from blue to red. Frankly, I don't think much thought went into the seat colors when they were replaced in the mid 70s. Most people think of Dodger Stadium like a classic 60s car. You wouldn't think a pastel green 1962 Chevy Impalla was dated, would you? It just works.
I still don't understand the thinking by many that there are only four narrow options for ballpark seat colors - dark green, red or dark blue or medium blue.

Maybe I can explain that. When Oriole Park at Camden Yards (or OP@CY) opened up, it's seat were a dark green, and that set the trend that all "Camden Yards wanna-be's" followed...whether in the major or minor leagues. Fans associated kelly-green seats with baseball. When the New Comiskey Park opened in 1991, it's seats were originally a Dodger-blue because owner Jerry Reinsdorf grew up in Brooklyn and a Dodger fan. And at first, fans here in Chicago were okay to the idea. But when OP@CY became the "inspiration" for the "retro-ballpark building trend", blue seats were out, and dark green was in. Teams like the Padres, Reds, and Cardinals, who have dark blue and red seats respectively, have those colors in their teams' color schemes. So I guess it's okay. Obviously, there's no blue in the White Sox team colors.
