I want to see what folks think of the work of various incarnations of the Veteran's Committee. We've already got threads on the "Lee Allen" VC and the "Frankie Frisch" VC. Eventually, I'll report the results of all the polls.

You are permitted to consider all the contributions of the man, including as a manager. Arguably, the VC that voted these guys in did, so you should be able to do so as well.

I'm putting Ray Dandridge in a separate group in an effort to limit voting on Negro Leaguers to knowledgeable voters.

I'm always taken back when I remember that Mize went in via the VC. I see him as a shoo-in.

I picked Doerr, Mize, Reese, Slaughter, Schoendist and Vaughan. I can't see why Mize wasn't automatic. He's really not far removed from Hank Greenberg. Buth were high avg power hittng 1B with the meat of their prime removed by the war who had one or two big years after the war. Greenberg was A-A+ Mize B+-A-.

Doerr, Mize, Reese and Vaughan for me. Schoendienst and Slaughter are ones I don't agree with, but may be wrong.

Agreed. The writers really whiffed on that one, though at least there were a few years of one year on, one year off voting before Mize became eligible to jam things up. Still, they should have gotten him in.
