Initial predictions about 2007 Bowman pegged it as just about the most disappointing set of the year. Cards BP 1-110 (and BPC1-110, which were Chrome cards) were of has-been veterans, mostly; Quad A players...T.J. Nall, Spike Lundberg, Jose Oyervidez and the like. So 2007 Bowman Chrome has made up for that in a HUGE way. Among the base checklist are some of the hottest prospects in baseball...Adam Cowart of the Giants jumps out, and it was rumored he would be an autograph only. Speaking of autographs, the initial huge checklist was fortunately reduced to only the stars. The three autos I pulled were refractor autos of Carlos Perez and Jeff Samardzija (!!!) and a regular auto of Greg Reynolds. The latter two; tough to improve upon. Incidentally, Bowman also changed its philosophy of putting the label "First Bowman Chrome Card" in the upper corner. Now it just says "Bowman Chrome," and there is a notable repeat in Tyler Clippard, who had his rookie card in the 2005 Topps Heritage set. That said, with the checklist chock full of first-time prospects, I give Bowman Chrome a bigtime two thumbs up. The only thing you have to watch for is dupes...I had my fair share.

1) Wow, that's pretty awesome. I'm keeping it anyway, though slabbing it.
2) Make that CHRIS Perez. Carlos Perez, what was I thinking? Looks like a fairly dominant closer, though has been plagued by control problems in AAA. He was only drafted in 2006, though.

EDIT: Here's another thing. As can be seen in the photo below, the autographed Bowman Chrome prospect cards still feature the "First Bowman Chrome Card" label. However, the prospect cards not signed (and yes, this is not only the first Bowman card in the case of Adam Cowart, but the first mainstream issue baseball card in general) don't feature it. I wonder if they printed/designed the autographed cards first. Photos in the post below...

o thats not the same saltamachia card that sold for 600, the other guys had an orange border, I dont know what kind of card it was (refractor, etc.) as i'm not very familiar with this box

"saltamachia"

Wrong player. Jarrod Saltalamacchia is the catcher for the Rangers (formerly the Braves). Jeff Samardzija is a pitching prospect with the Chicago Cubs. I checked eBay for the price of Samardzija's refractors, and they ARE going for significant prices (roughly $150), but not $600.

o i meant samardizja but the guy claims his went for that much. The only difference between his and yours is that his has an orange border

Oh. Well, that's what's called an orange refractor. Not very common, but $600 is kinda silly for it. I could see $350, even $400, but $600? Geez...

Thanks! I hope his arm holds out; I've seen youtube clips of Samardzija and he is something, especially regarding his fastball.
