I'd go with Nike, although I'm using Mizuno at the moment. Nike was very durable and comfortable but it was more expensive than the others. I used Under Armor as well until this year. They were comfortable and good price but didn't last long. Right now I'm using Mizuno techfire batting gloves.

akadema makes a nice glove for about 20 bucks BUT i'd bet freddy is about to pump out the new zinger gloves...considering the question:nod:

Back when I played a lot more, I would pay $30 for a pair of Neumann gloves and feel like I was getting a bargain. They had very thick, durable leather that had some kind of stickum impregnated in it.
I don't think they make baseball gloves anymore, might still have football ones. I use Franklins now because my wife bought a bag of about 20 of them for $2 each at Building 19 a few years ago, and I'm still working through them.
Personally, once I found them, I have used nothing but Easton VRS. The VRS has an additonal pad runs across the palm and down the outside of the hand to provide additional cushion to the area that takes the most beating. Prior to finding them, no matter how much bp I used to take and how many calluses (?) used to build up on my hands, at one time or another, I would always get a blister somewhere. Since getting the VRS, I have not had that problem.

Thats funny Woody, I do not sell batting gloves.
I have been asked by many if we do, and most of the time they share thier disappointments with me. Very few have a happy story. Seems the maunfacturers make them only so good looking for the repeat business.
Like most things we buy today, last only as long as the warranty then fall apart!!
I purchased a stove for 650.00 2yrs ago stops working so I check my warranty only to find out it had just expired. The computer board was shot. Guess how much to change that part 450.00:crazy. So why fix huh, just go buy another one. What a crok, but that's life. I'm guessing there has to be a happy medium.

I was told 2 dyas ago by a AAA player about that glove. His problem with it was he had a hard time fealing the knob, do you?

That's my experience too. You can't feel the knob at all.
Personally I use Franklin batting gloves. Seem to last decently, priced fairly. The only complaint I have is finding the damn things. The only store around here that sold them went belly up and now I have to find them online. And its tough to do. I had heard Franklin had a supplier problem of some sort, but they were supposed to have it sorted out and deliveries made to distributors by the end of this month. I hope so. The pair I have left is rather beat and disgusting.

Neumann gloves are still made and available. I've seen them on a couple of websites in the past couple of months and there were a couple of pairs on ebay recently.
20 Franklins for $2 each? Damn I am jealous. I've had some on order for 5 weeks now, just waiting for Franklin to ship to distributors. Ugh.

The TPX Nomar gloves are the best because the last and are durable along with an Amazing feel.
So are The Rawlings workhorse because of the padding and the durable material
Nikes have holes in them within three weeks if u take 500 swings a week and thats not to much for a Good player

Yeah, my wife scored a coup for me that day. I wasn't in love with Franklins, but they work and I'm set for a long time now. If you're in the East, stop by Building 19!!!! I actually bought Cooper bats there for $5, apparently when the line was discontinued.
Freddy's oven story sounds like the $150 circuit board, $150 motor replacement in a $200 garage door opener. Guy comes out 3 time, does the first two repairs and pockets $300, then ends up replacing the whole opener. I was so busy at work that I couldn't do it myself, and my wife fell for the repairman's BS. The first two times, he's trying to save you $50....

i prefer the nike batting gloves for the feel because theyre thin, conform well on my hand, and are fairly durable. though they are pricy.
i would never use padded gloves, i hate the feeling.
i dont use batting gloves in games though, i only use them when taking extra bp. i dont mind blisters or caluses, i have quite a bit from working out and swinging bats, but i try not to make it a rediculous amount.

i do actually, i do the bat dirty and tape too....wood bats that is. i do have a short barber pole and slight flare taped onto my metal bat though. and during bp ill put a just a little bit of pine tar where i hold the bat, nothing messy just enough to give it a nice grip by game time.

Your hands must be sticky, what do you clean them with

what i meant was i put pinetar by the trademark its not that messy at the bottom of the handle. my hands dont get that messy. im a catcher and a sweat alot an when i wipe my hands on my pants while im back there i suppose most of it comes off then. i actually sometimes pat my hands on my pine tar rag before i go back onto the field so that i can get a pretty good grip on the ball. but when my hands get too sweaty, i pat the dirt a little bit then wipe off excess dirt on my pants, works every time.
and a good scrubbing with soap and water gets the sticky stuff off your hands

Love the TPX Nomars. I have been using them for several years now and have been waiting for TPX to put out their new pieces. I have seen Nick Swisher with the A's trying out a new model. TPX says they are experimental.

I like the Rawlings Workhorse. It has a nice snug fit, heavy duty, tackified leather, and the extra padding on the base of the palm/side of hand. Apparently, I take a beating there from the bat knob when I get a lot swings. I have also used Akadema and D-Bat's gloves as well. Both have the reinforced leather in that spot on palm, although D-Bat's does not extend around the edge of the hand like Akadema's. Both brands are made of supple lightweight leather and the cloth portion has a nice snug fit. All have held up nicely with extended BP and game use, but I am sure the Rawlings would outlast the others head to head. Besides performance, I look at cost and don't want to pay much over $30/pair. The Rawlings are the most expensive gloves I would ever buy. I have checked out the UA gloves and would never pay the bucks for them. I have never tried Franklin Pro gloves, but the ones in Walmart are horrible.
Have fun and play hard!

I prefer Franklin batting gloves. they run a reasonable price, and come in team colors =) with a little pinetar, these gloves are practically cemented to my bat

I go between Nike's Elite Series (they are coming out with VI now), and Franklin. I love the digitized leather for the grip. I am not a big fan of smooth leather on the palm side.
Its tough to gauge what the pro's would wear if they had a choice. 99% of them are "sponsored" by a company and get there stuff for free.

I've been in the cages alot and find the gloves keep tearing on the palm. Could this be a poor quality gloves or am I swinging wrong. Is there a way to treat the batting glove that it stays soft in-between usage.

are both gloves tearing or just the bottom hand? usually the only tears i get are between the index finger and thumb and on my bottom hand near the seams on the pinky side of my palm where i rest my hand on the knob.

Exactly, a couple inches below pinky. Lower hand that rests on the knob

Forget exactly which ones I have, because I just started using batting gloves 2 months ago, but I like the feel of the under armor ones. But, if you don't dry them after you sweat alot (like in a humid place in the midwest) they dry up all weird, then you have to stretch them out. But, I like them for their useage, and they look good around here. Underarmour is popular in my area (at least at my school and in my little league).

I'm using a Nike Model right now(20$), and I think they're horrible. I've had them for about 4 months now, they lasted a summer season of about 12 games. They performed during said season and felt ok, but don't seem to have much durability. Since then I've been taking about 60 swings off the tee a day (Batting is not my strong point) and they started rotting and tearing about a month ago. The whole left handed gloves palm is almost gone, they feel awful from the rotting, and just dont get a grip anymore. I've been meaning to buy a new pair for a while now, but haven't been sure what to get. I have no idea if Nike has better models, but I'll be staying away from their b-gloves. I think I'll look into the TPX Nomar gloves after reading this thread.

My son goes through about three pairs a season. That's with sixty games and a lot of practices. His gloves cost about $15 a pair.

Nike, underamour and mizuno.
For the guys who have found their gloves dry out, shrink, etc. One way to stop this is to store you gloves in your bag in a ziplock bag. Used to have that problem all the time with cheaper gloves but found that if you stored them in an airtight ziplock bag, they don't dry out or shrink.
