Ever dreamed of finding some oddball card for $2 at a flea market and getting roughly $98 off? Well, I have. For a long time. But only now did something like that actually happen. Some lady had ONE card, which I recognized as a 1950's Exhibit Card (you'd put a coin into a vending machine and it'd spit out one of these 5 3/8"x3 3/8" cards from 1949-1966, I think). Exhibit Cards aren't worth a ton, but your average star card is worth a decent amount. So it was to my happy surprise that the card was of Satchel Paige (with the St. Louis Browns...no known cards of him with Cleveland), in near mint condition...a card that books for $100. So I spent my two bucks and was on my way. I'll have a scan of the card up soon.

I have an exhibit card of satchel paige in a cleveland indians uniform. You seem to indicate that is rare. Is it?

Hopefully the card you have is the one that says "AN EXHIBIT CARD" on the bottom left corner opposite "MADE IN USA".
This "AN EXHIBIT CARD" card was produced only in 1949 and to vintage collectors is considered one of Paiges true rookie cards. (BTW he is in an Indians uniform on all of the Exhibit cards.)
The 1949 card sells on eBay for about $30-$50 most times (will increase when collectors realize it is one of his rookie cards). The later cards w/o the "AN EXHIBIT CARD" line sell for about 1/2 that.
If anyone wants to learn how to pinpoint the exact year an exhibit card was produced between 1939-1966, I have a page on my site that breaks it down.

Okay, my Paige is definitely not an Exhibit card (though I just purchased his 1948 Indians Team Issue 6x9 card and 1953 Topps card, so it balances out...definitely some kind of postcard, though). However, the link does date my Hank Aaron Exhibit Card ("Printed in U.S.A." on the front of the card only in upper and lower case) to 1957-1959 (not B&W or deep brown). Thanks for the link!

It might be one of the few St. Louis Browns Team Issue Postcards. They are actually worth/sell about 3-4 times more than the more common Exhibit card.
1952 pictures Paige on knee (no stampbox on back) $200 NRMT
1953 on knee (Deorite Peerless stampbox) $200 NRMT
1953 throwing (Deorite Peerless stampbox) $200 NRMT

Let me get a scan of it up...
EDIT: Scanned. There's no stampbox on the back, btw.

Its the same picture, but the St.L Browns postcards have a white border. The postcards are also glossy sepia colored "Real Photographs" as opposed to a printed photo (made with tiny dots).

Not exactly sure what it is, then. I know what you mean about tiny dots, but this does not have them (that'd be my awful scanner contributing to the effect). Perhaps it's trimmed (in which case it's next to worthless...or worth the two bucks I got it for and nothing more)?

Not exactly oddball, but I purchased a pair of 1914 B18 felt blankets for $12 total. One was of Cobb and the other of Walter Johnson. Neither was mint, with their share of yellowing and smudges, but the cuts and colors were decent. Needless to say, I was quite pleased with this find. For me, such finds are few and far between.
