Now then, please repeat after me 500 times (and 100 times on the blackboard):

I am a Beantown fan;
I am worthless;
My sole purpose is for the amusement of Yankee fans;
We will lose;
We will hope, but in the end, we are all loserboys and losergirls;
No chowda for me;
We will succumb to the invincible powers of the Mighty Evil Empires;
I will buy a Yankee cap and wear it proudly in April 2008.

You will then sign it "efin98". OK? :D

I'd do that but I'm barred fron writing on blackboards...something about making screeching noises every time I use chalk(my third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade teachers can attest to that!) :dance

Plus I already own a Yankees hat so I don't need to buy a new one. I've tried to but I can't throw it out because every time I put it on my head the Yankees lose a game so my family has barred me from going near the trash with it :rofl:

Yee Gods, a baseball field with outfielders playing second base, the distance from home to third HAS to be shorter than third to that wall and net contraption. The NESN shots were beyond weird. Tonight is yet another exhibition game, then to Canada, not until the 8TH, THE 8TH, do the Sox have Home Opener. Then not one day off until the 28th.:hp

I detect evilness in this plan. I detect a conspiracy between Selig and the Steinbrenners, the Evil Empire at work.

I am waiting for pitbull to put one of the Steinbrenners, or one of his players, on the disabled list. Boston has a law about owners posting a sign if they own pitbulls-so the visitors dugout will need one, maybe a muzzle, too. And a rabies shot. Leave that Shelley Duncan at home, or in one of Matt's famous trunks.

I'd pay good money to see Shelley vs Trot Nixon...Shelley would be ground up for a Bronx frank.

Time to nap, before the next god-awful scheduled game. At least it will be in a real ballpark. :hp

The 2000 New York Yankees and 1987 Minnesota Twins did that too - AND they won the World Series, with 87 and 85 wins, respectively. Weak division and lots of injuries was why the Cardinals only had 83 wins and won the division, but let's see:

Some of the 2000 New York Yankees are still playing for them: Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettite, and Mariano Rivera. And for the record...

It's a 4-game series. At least we won 2 of 3 against Toronto, which is better than *LOSING* 3 of 3 against them. Oh, and Wang and the Mighty Yankees did beat Roy Halladay, unlike Josh Beckett.

Now if your team (or what little is left of it) cannot beat the Oh-No for 6 Motowns, then I suggest you people start hiding out early. Just remember, that chowda doesn't store well in those places in the boonies that have no electricity.

Nothing.

So, here goes...

I'm gonna tell you about my town
I'm gonna tell you a big bad story, baby
Aww, it's all about my town
Yeah, down by the river
Down by the banks of the river Charles

That's where you'll find me
Along with lovers, muggers, and thieves

Well I love that dirty water
Oh, Boston, you're my home

Frustrated women

Have to be in by twelve o'clock
(oh, that's a shame)
But I'm wishin' and a-hopin, oh
That just once those doors weren't locked
(I like to save time for my baby to walk around)
Well I love that dirty water
Oh, Boston, you're my home

I've been suspicious of Manny and bat corking since his days in Cleveland. He's the only Red Sox player I don't like. Why? His attitude, and his antagonizing behavior gets on everyone's nerves. How does he do that? Well, arguing calls, going in batting slumps mysteriously and missing out on key games for reasons unknown.

But remember, 8:00 PM tonight is doomsday time for you Yankees fans. Why is that? Because you're on national TV and you tend to get episodes of stage fright. May Games 4-7 of the 2004 ALCS ring a bell? :laugh

I couldn't understand that one either. A few of my buddies and I were watching, then suddenly we're told that we have to switch to FX. Everyone asked, "What the heck is FX?" Someone pulled out the station guide, but why when it's on a 2-2 count, 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th? Anyway, I can't figure out why Robinson Cano swung at ball 4.

Now then, with the Beantown jersey having been found, and since the offender is male, then CB is off the hook. However, where is Ken?

Not surprised. Tessie is the Royal Rooters rally cry
Tessie is the tune they always sung
Tessie echoed April through October nights
After serenading Stahl, Dinneen and Young
Tessie is a maiden with a sparkling eye
Tessie is a maiden with a love
She doesn't know the meaning of her sight
She's got a comment full of love

And sometimes when the game is on the line
Tessie always carried them away
Up the road from "Third Base" to Huntington
The boys will always sing and sway

Two! Three! Four!

Tessie, "Nuf Ced" McGreevey shouted
We're not here to mess around
Boston, you know we love you madly
Hear the crowd roar to your sound
Don't blame us if we ever doubt you
You know we couldn't live without you
Tessie, you are the only only only

The Rooters showed up at the grounds one day
They found their seats had all been sold
McGreevey led the charge into the park
Stormed the gates and put the game on hold
The Rooters gave the other team a dreadful fright
Boston's tenth man could not be wrong
Up from "Third Base" to Huntington
They'd sing another victory song

Two! Three! Four!

Tessie, "Nuf Ced" McGreevey shouted
We're not here to mess around
Boston, you know we love you madly
Hear the crowd roar to your sound

Oh, boy..thou shalt not pitch to Manny with an open base. Thou shalt never leave such decisions to the pitcher.
I cannot believe he is gonna pitch to Manny this year.

The pitcher and the catcher speak the same language, the poor catcher (I felt sorry, except it was so funny)ran out again and again, still a wild pitch was scored as a passed ball. Is there another catcher if Molina breaks his leg? If I was him, I'd consider breaking my leg.

With the Red Sox stealing team playing a baseball game that was half a field and track event, Posada gets put behind the plate.

Hal and Hank vs the Pitbull. Put em in one of those steel cage thingies-

Is that jersey in the foundation, or did they manage to find it? Whose jersey did the guy put in? Hmmm, if they are just starting the foundation, plenty of places to stuff hats, replica trophies, number patches. Yankee stadium, embedded with RED SOX-geez, somebody's gotta get a trailer truck of red sox, and park it near the contruction site. Perfect.

Now Pitbull is going on the road-hope he keeps making these good decisions.

Shoot, they took jackhammers and found the shirt in two feet of concrete. Correction-found a shirt....

A couple nights, and Houdini will learn. Probably easier to train than Pitbull. Gotta get a scratching thingie, label it NYY, rub in catnip-cat has double catnip gene-.

Posada should be on DL, not field. There should be another catcher. Maybe Houdini could catch if Molina gets hurt, or runs away from the pitchers-how can you screw up a pitchout sign?

Will Pittbull physically injure his players? Has he had rabies shot?

Well, you won't believe it, but the Red Sox needs to hire sailors to help them steer the right boat and knock Baltimore off of its leader plateau. And I don't mean certain navy-coloured sailors (complete with people named Joe Girardi, Derek Jeter, you know, those sailors) - they're there to try to knock Boston INTO the basement. All that has to be done tonight is: Baltimore loses to Toronto, Boston wins over Cleveland, and Yankees lose to Tampa.

If at least ONE equation goes wrong, then it's time to hire those sailors and blast the AL East with their magic, then we claim the AL East title again. But there's one step missing: Yankee fans must worship the Red Sox as their new leaders. :laugh

Don't knock them because they know how to be rivals and good friends :D

First of all, my hair is a beautiful aburn, not that horrendous shade of swimming pool blonde, I own a comb or two, and have more sense than to wear clothing that is too tight. Unless I'm with a MAN, it's very carefully chosen clothing, and other circumstances that will remain private.

Last post in RED SOX GAME THREAD-Matt, the setiform man, asking about relievers-we have Oki, we have Pap, you do not.:bowdown:After Pap's performance after the rain delay-three warm ups-

Nascar-I DEPISE nascar. A bunch of fools get in a bunch of high priced cars, driving in circles to nowhere, killing themselves and others. Note: One of my brothers has amassed four of such cars, he PAYS to store the damn things safe from the weather, and PAYS REAL MONEY to drive behind a NASCAR driver, one car length behind, to how fast he van safely go-a fun way to spend vacation time, when he's not trying to cut down his speed record from Providence to Boston-he drives alone-no one will drive with him. The plaque with the MPH is one of his most treasured possesions, after the starting line alarm clock. (I think he came from a dumpster somewhere, no one else in the family has this weirdness-he does't even like baseball. Serious weirdness.):confused:

Rumor has it Posada is going to be behind the plate. How many steals will our young speedsters have tonight? I'd really like to see a double steal, or a steal of home. Yeah, a double steal-WHOO! If not now, when? Catcher with a dead arm? You guys can't find another catcher? I again offer services of Houdini cat-does not go through screen windows-attempts to remove screen window from window frame-scary-hmm-you may want cat as a bench coach for Pitbull-isn't someone supposed to be nudging-"WALK MANNY!"

It's a shame that it's a home game, Pitbull will hear the fans screaming " WALK MANNY!". Of course, there's always lil harmless Petey to follow up. :highfive:

We'll give you Schilling, take that child that did could not read signals from Molina, Pawtuckett will train him up, and we'll have another young arm.

Lemme see---Wang, Beckett-this series should be even.

There is a rumor that a cetain red tailed hawk has been signed by Boston. This female is a specialist-a headhunter after persons with the initials of AR. Her pay is all the scalp she can eat.

How many times will Manny be pitched to with an open base? A one, and a ?

We're coming to get you, ha ha, we're coming to get you, hee hee...

Damon in the outfield? More steals. Maybe enough to unfocus Wang-that would be nice..how is he at fielding bunts? Gotta go stat hunting..

And a-stealing we will go, a-stealing we will go, heigh-ho the dairy-o, a-stealing we will go.

I see "you" are pointing at the ump. Any reason why?

Solair Wright
04-16-2008, 02:34 PM
He was pointing at the umpire in revenge of the ump missing a call against a left-handed Yankee batter, ending in a called strike instead of a ball. Which one was it? Probably Giambi, because he takes a lot of strikeouts and has a low BA. But I don't know, "Sky's the limit." :laugh

No need for Oki and Paps when we have Joba and Mo. Please bow to your rulers. They are not only your superior, but they are your Daddy, my weird little Beantown fan.

I thought that you were into NASCAR. Proof that Sawx fantasizers are really into NASCAR, whether they admit it or not:

Hmmmmmmm, would that make you a Rhinestone cowgirl? Or would you just be a devout Loretta Lynn fan? I'm sure that the moonshine from the days was fun for ya, wasn't it? :p

Manny can't even catch, how can he walk? At least he looked good letting those balls drop in safely for nice hits.

In the end, the only thing you'll need to worry yourself about is this:

Yanks overpower Red Sox in heated home series opener (http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/gamecenter/recap/MLB_20080416_BOS@NYY)

Or you could simply try whatever redsox.com could muster:

Offense sizzles, pitchers fizzle
Six-run fifth-inning rally can't help Sox avoid loss to Yanks (http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/news/gameday_recap.jsp?ymd=20080416&content_id=2534167&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos)

BTW, Wang's pretty good at fielding bunts. If he throws it away, it manages to hit a Red Saws fans, which isn't a bad thing. Otherwise, his fielding is fine. He just didn't have it today, but then again, our bullpen held up better than those chowdaheads did.

Nighty-nite, and y'all can try again tomorrow, as useless as this may be. :laugh

And it looks like Kyle Farnsworth started his suspension today for plunking Manny. You NEVER throw at someone, regardless if you are mad at him or not. You never do. The only thing that works best when you're angry at a batter is just intentionally walk him. It causes a base on balls, but it's better than getting suspended for beaning a batter.

Pitch to Manny, or have Manny be ejected for objecting to terrible calls-still the sox win. Theo does a great job of supplying Francona with bodies, and Francona knows where to put them.

These plate calls have been horrible. :hp:homeplate: Cannot possibly be anything but deliberate. What game is Selig playing at?

I volunteer Houdini cat to call balls and strikes..as long as the balls don't have bells in them it will work. Can't be worse than the calls of the past few days.

Fellow RSox fans: Are we going to switch rivalry to Bal? Given that the pinstripes are getting faded and wavy? Winning by luck? If Pitbull pitches to Manny, he's going to pitch to sluggers on every team. Those L's are gonna pile up. Meanwhile, back in Boston, where every sport is winning...I mean, the BRUINS!

George Steinbrenner Tells Sons To Mellow Out (http://www.theonion.com/content/news_briefs/george_steinbrenner_tells)
NEW YORK—Following the latest in a series of animated outbursts by Yankee co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner, a tirade in which he said that "only an idiot" would not start Joba Chamberlain, comparatively laid-back Yankee owner George Steinbrenner advised his sons to "calm down" and "not make any rash decisions." "It's just a game," Steinbrenner said in a statement released by his spokesman Howard Rubenstein. "Honestly, who cares if the Yankees lose a couple? It's not the end of the world. As long as everyone is having fun...that's the important thing." Steinbrenner added that he is no longer requiring the Yankees to win the World Series, but that if they are eliminated in the ALDS, Joe Girardi will be out of a job and Brian Cashman will be executed before a firing squad.

Oh, I've heard that Union Oyster place has run out of both heavy cream and clams. Oh boy, what will they ever make their patented New England clam chowda from? Then again, has the fridge been unplugged, and it's all gone sour?

Funny you mention that problem as it's actually true...They had a major gas/electrical problem due to a water main break so they had to shut down for the weekend, plus "red tide"(poisonous algae on coast/beach) is in swing up here so clams are in low supply for the next few weeks...sorry to spoil your blatant joke!

Geez, SDL -- that is pretty radical. But probably not that unusual when you consider the hatred between the fans of those two teams.

I think a "good" (as opposed to bitter) rivalry is the Cardinals/Cubs. I doubt that you'd ever find anyone getting killed between fans of birds 'n bears. These two teams have mellower fans.

A new rivalry that seems to be gathering steam is the Mets/Phillies. Should be interesting for a few years if the Mets can contend.

The year was 2002. One season after the very much ballyhooed acquisition of Oakland farmhand, Jason Giambi, the Yanks let Tino Martinez walk. Despite St Louis trying to get Giambi also, they settled upon Tino, saving face that he'd previously followed a legend at 1B, that, of course, being my namesake.

In 2002, the Cards played the Yanks on a weekend at Yankee Stadium. That's the first time I've ever seen Cards fans, since I'm not a Mets fan. There were more jerseys I've never seen before, such as Gibson, Slaughter, Brock, McGwire and so many others. The place was awash in great players' jerseys.

So as to prove he wasn't a slouch, Tino hit the same 2 jacks that Giambi did. Everyone knew they were trying to one-up the other. Either way, upon the first Tino longball, the whole stadium erupted in standing cheers, yet verbal infighting flew amongst a few Yankee fans.

We were on some trip hosted by friends on another forum, but some argued, "Hey, that's Tino Martinez out there", while others complained, "He's no longer a Yankee, and that HR has hurt the Yankees' chance to win". We just let it slide under the carpet, since it would've never ended.

In the end, it was an interesting moment in baseball when a popular star player returns.

Solair Wright
05-09-2008, 04:59 PM
It was actually in 2003 when the Cardinals played the Yankees at their great ballpark. Even if the Cards got swept three games, it was still a good series to watch once. And I'm afraid Giambi is slowing down today in all departments. He can't run very well, the bat he has today is nothing like his 2006 form, and he's a liability at first base, even though he has two errors.

Not trying to start fires, but I fear he could be done.

Giambi....I offer my services, or my cat's services, whichever is worst-either of us would still be better than him. I know when he's at bat, or in a play-can hear the groans from NY.
Question-is Giambi really THAT bad, or is Jeter not able to throw to first? People laugh at Manny, but he throws strikes to home plate...Any Yank outfielders have assists this year? Last year?
I got my double steal. I don't know whether I want another double steal, or a steal of home. If somebody dances off third, distract while second is stolen, and the ball goes to second, third dance can steal home. I wonder if there has ever been a triple steal?
Yawn...it's no fun when the rival is below 500-not sportsmanlike, sportsladylike, to hit 'em when they're down.

Until then (or until both teams go into a deep nosedive), this thread shall close for routine maintenance! :D Your co-operation in this matter is greatly appreciated. ;)

Aw, I get singled out- I've finally made it! :applaud::p

Routine maintenance you say? Sounds like the Yankees won't be above atop the standings for a lot longer than fans had hoped...

Let's see if this "routine maintenance" works against their opponent, the New York Mets. Beantown's getting the brooms, and you Yankees are fearing getting broom service by the Orange and Blue.

Quite the antithesis for each team, might you say?

I'm just waiting for the soon-to-be-occurring Joey Pitbull/ Hanky-Poo meltdown.

The result should be what we referred to in one of my History classes as "M.A.D." (and I don't mean as in "temperament")

The new home of the New York Yankees:

How is it down there? Cold and scary, as I expected?

Nah, it's more fun poking fun at the 26-time World Champions. (since I used to live around NYC, and will eventually end up living there again this year) And let's see how the "Ace" Chien-Ming Wang goes against Oliver Perez. Then the Sox get to deal with the Royals and then go to "the Dump in Oakland." :noidea

Your six-game path seems to be easy, but don't underestimate our six-game path!

Well, we needed a kid to take the hit whenever we get a vid of some silly Beantowner who couldn't swing a bit. Bald, you say? Well, those wigs must be selling well then! :D

The Yanks will have to win the June WS then, since the April and May ones aren't going as planned.

Let's see where that system upgrade software is. Hmmmmmmm, I think I found it right here in pouring a gallon of lemon to curdle that chowda you people have been eating like it's Kool-Aid.

I hadn't realized that Busch Stadium had such a wonderful visiting area. Do you clean the place up a bit? Not even once?

If Pettitte pitches like that and he puts in Farnsworthless in there, it'll be the fans that Girardi will have to deal with, not just Hank.

Until then, no further Beantown comments into this thread. Hey, isn't it time for you folks to start cleaning up the joint?

Ah, the sounds of basement chattering. There's no place like home, eh? And you can thank my main team for helping the Red Sox reclaim first place. Any questions? The Yankees' Three Stooges of 'Lil Steinbrenner, Cashman, Girardi and aren't doing the job commandeering the Yankees. Instead, they squabble, fight, and argue about the team a lot.

Meet the Three Kings of (Theo) Epstein, (Terry) Francona and John W. Henry. Sorry, your 13-season playoff run will just fall short from the Stooges arguing about random Yankees' everyday life.

I can see it as this for the Yanks' Three Stooges. HANK: "Win five games in a row without any problems" *team wins three out of five* HANK: "This Yankees team is awful! Brian and Joe, you're fired as GM and Manager effective immediately! We needed a post-season run and now we'll miss the playoffs! Knuckleheads!"
