hey i went to the field the other day and took some lefty cuts and was really elevating the ball nicely hitting some nice line drive bombs...i could feel my weight transfering everything happening perfect. For righty i dont know i am so trained to to a flat swing path and squish the bug and knob to the ball that i just CANT elevate a ball unless i get completely under it. i dont know what i should do...become a lefty?

If you play better, and it feels better when you are a lefty, then yes, you should change.

I notice that when I train myself to do something lefty my technique is better. This is generally because I know what my flaws are from the right. But generally I have a lot less power from the left and it's sometimes less automatic from the left and it requires more concentration and this can be a bit tricky at times. If you feel that hitting from the left will be more succesful then go ahead but once you come up against some real pitching you might not have the same sucess.

what it means to me is that whoever taught you how to hit righty robbed your natural swing ,,which is much smoother untampered..as a lefty:think: ;) :twocents: :twocents: :twocents:    :lightbulb:

This is actually not all that uncommon. You'll very rarely hear scouts praise a RH hitter's swing.

I would go with what works better, regardless of what you are "supposed" to do.

My son is right handed, left footed (goofy foot surfer). I have suggested that he should bat lefty, giving him an extra step to his already quick 4.2 second time to 1st. He hits pretty decent off the machine lefty. But he doesn't want to gamble with his high school coaches.

ill try to get clips....the problem is id make sweet contact lefty it goes like 260 tops but righty ill hit some balls 300 plus if i get a pitch high and in. A regular pitch down the middle i CANNOT elevate righty while lefty ill crush it (batting practice speed)

Stop worrying about distance. For some, distance doesn't come until they are in their 20's. When it comes to dry swings, I think my lefty swing is better than my righty swing (hence why 2 handed backhand in tennis is really good) yet I bat from the right side. I've tried a little bit this year taking at bats from the left side, especially after I got hit w/ a pitch in my right hip, I didn't have much of a choice b/c I couldn't pivot well on my back leg hitting righty. The timing of the lefty swing was tough for me to get down, but I'm really considering giving switch hitting a full run this offseason. I don't think I have much to lose. I don't think my righty swing is going to get much better but I think I can learn my lefty swing.

Definitley, continue to train lefty.. I was in the same situation during college. I saw the ball so much better and the ball leaped off the bat..
