With the strides high definition has made recently, anyone use a HD camcorder successfully to make good analysis videos? If so, any recommendations?

Software suggestions?

I see some awesome video analysis in these forums and I was wondering how they are done

Thanks!

Shouldn't high speed (more frames/sec) be more important than high definition (clarity)?

I don't know. Does HD camcorders have both?

I have a HD TV and it seems HD is quickly becoming the standard. I don't have a camcorder now and I'm exploring the best options for camcorder and softward. Any suggestions?:noidea

I agree that the frames per second is way more important than HD... HD just clears the picture up. When you slow the picture down, it's not going to matter whether or not you have high definition... but it does matter if you can go frame by frame... the more frames you skip the less chance you have of seeing what's going on...

For instance if you have dvr... replay a baseball game in slow motion that is playing in hd... then go to a baseball game that isn't in hd and make the play go in slow motion... both are clear enough to see what's going on... but if you have the software to make the game go even slower wouldn't it be easier to see if the guy was safe or out... or if the batter's mechanics were correct.

If you're planning to do video for motion analysis, you need the right kind of camera.

Thanks for the link. Good information answered a lot of questions.

If I'm going HD then according to the information provided the Canon HV10 is the one to consider. It only has a 10X optical zoom. With those that have experience with their cameras, will 10X be enough zoom to film middle infielders?
