My fav was always Harold Reynolds. Michael Irvin gets caught with a hash pipe, and gets a 2 day suspension. Reynolds is thought maybe he could have sort of sexually harassed a woman, and he gets fired. Whatever. Plus, I've heard Harold on radio doing a hillarious impression of his former neighbor, Avery Johnson.
I like Tim Kurkjian becasue he sticks with the facts and doesn't really seem to ever be talking out of his ass.
I like Gammons too, he's especially good when it comes to trade rumors and such. Plus, his blues album was surprisingly pretty darn good. The man can really play guitar.
I like Steve Phillips, he offers an interesting perspective having been on the business side of baseball.
As for the bad:
John Kruk should be thankful that no IQ test is required for the job (the fac that he actually argued that Verlander had a great chance at throwing 2 straight no hitters was just the icing on the cake).
Dusty Baker- poor job as a manager, poor job as an analyst.
Thank goodness Jeff Brantley is gone, I don't think there's ever been anyone more boring on the show.

Well I used to like Harold Reynolds... If I had to choose who's left, I'd say Gammons. He seems to know have more of a clue what he's talking about then the rest of the lot.

Web Gems, that's about all. The thnig about Jeff Brantley is I enjoy listening to him here in Cincinnati when he's working with Marty Brennaman. But when Jeff is just doing things by himself, he is the most boring person in the world.

BBTN back to basics:
Orel Hershiser, Harold Reynolds and Tim Kurkjian.

I didn't know Dusty did a poor job as a manager, with his 1162-1041 record and .527 career win percent 3 NL MOY and several playoff appearances  . In any case, I have no idea how can you stand Phillips, hes a total idiot and always seems like hes talking out his ass, the only good thing he ever did for the Mets was draft Wright and sign Reyes. I do like Kurk and how can you not like Gammons. I don't really have an issue with Kruk, I think its nice to have a players perspective on a show like that, especially around the deadline and whatnot.
Kurkjian and Gammons are actually writers moreso than part of the BBTN crew. Because they are writers, they have to stick with the facts. They shouldn't really be included. But I definitely like what they have to offer.
I hate Baker, Vina, and Perez. They seem to regurgitate their words and have a limited vocabulary.

I'm a bit surprised no one said Buster Olney yet. He along with Kurkjian are the only ones that aren't so reactionary to everything.

I like how Carl Ravech keeps the dialog rolling along. When left to the others, it seems they get mired up somehow. Carl's broadcasting skills mixed with the down-to-earth approach of Kruk and the others is a winning combo in my opinion. I really like the show. Far and away my favorite ESPN production.

Orel and Buster get my vote. At least Kruk got a hair cut. :laugh

I like the old format when there was Ravech, Gammons, and Reynolds, that was the only crew they needed to make this program great.
Orel is a good analyst, but the main foundation that this program is worth watching is Peter Gammons, he is BBTN, period.
I cant stand EY's voice, at least Brantley wasnt that all bad compared to Tino, who had I little case of stage fright, and the new format had more former ballplayers as "analysts" that the need (Destrade, Young, Viņa).

Kurkjian and Gammons are really the only two worth hearing anymore - Eric Young, Kruk, Vina rarely add anything of value. I too enjoyed Harold Reynolds, and it's apparent how difficult a time ESPN is having finding a replacement for him.

I'm a fan of Oral... I mean Orel. :) (C'mon, someone had to say it.) From the personality standpoint, I really don't like any of them. I think Ravech is the glue to the show; overall I think the players are completely devoid of personality or true opinions. Kruk is useless, Steve Phillips is OK -- As for Kurkjin (sp), Olney, and Gammons, the only thing they bring to the table are rumors that never seem to happen. I know Gammons is respected, yada yada, but as far as I'm concerned they're useless. After all, wasn't it a lock that ARod was a Red Sox, I mean it was already done, they were asking Millar about it and everything.. oh wait, nevermind. I can't stand how on one show Jason Stark says that "John Doe is definitely getting traded today, I was talking with someone from the Yahoos." only to hear Olney on another show saying "No, John Doe isn't going anywhere, I talked to someone from the Yahoos." All the while Gammons and Kurkjin say he might be getting traded but Gammons says to the White Sox and Kurkjin says to the Cubs. It's just ridiculous.
ESPN has gotten so involved in trying to beat the next guy to the punch, that I just don't listen to anything they say anymore. The inclusion of the "In Game" look for a game that's been over for an hour is offensive. I just with that Fox Sports could put something better together -- their format show in the morning at the news desk is visually distracting, and doesn't have any personality.

I like Ravech, but he's more of a play by play, moderator than an analyst. He is smooth though.

The show has lost a step with Reynolds, but I like Kurjikan (sp?). Ravich is a good host, Gammons, Orel are very good.
Kruk to me is there as a comic bafoon that happens to have played the game. He is a complete moron in my opinion.
