10 wins or less, or Cy Young status?

Should Francisco Liriano remain healthy for the '08 season I see him winning no less than fourteen games. His mechanics, though, could lead to more arm issues.
But if Liriano and pitching coach Rick Anderson can find a middle ground with his delivery, I don't see any reason why he can't return to the dominant form he demonstrated prior to this injury.

TJ surgery is too unpredictable from a patient to patient basis for me to really say, but I just have a bad feeling about it. I hope he returns to his '06 form and continues to dominate hitters and be the great young pitcher he was before the surgery and fulfill his potential, but I just have a really, really bad feeling that he won't. :sorry:

^ well I hope you are very wrong, because this guy was plain filthy in 06 and I hope to see him dominate again someday.

What exactly is it about his mechanics that caused the arm injury?

Liriano has a way of throwing across his body, and for someone so slight that throws so hard, that kind of thing can be problematic.
From the first time I saw him pitch I thought that could be an issue but he did so well and had thrown that way for so long that I began thinking perhaps he could get away with it.
Then he had problems. Hopefully, all will be well from here on out but you never know. Mark Prior has impeccable mechanics and look at him.
I think all Twins fans hope Liriano will rebound and pitch well in '08.

I keep wondering if the 2006 Liriano is gone forever. He was simply incredible in 2006. I had him on my fantasy team so I followed every one of his starts. His 144/32 K-BB ratio and 207 ERA+ was just ridiculous.

If the Giants hadn't traded Liriano they would now have Lincecum, Cain, and Liriano!!!!! I hate you Brian Sabean!!!!

Oh, and Joe Nathan would be closing.
I feel for you, SF fans. But I must say I'm happy with the trade, because with Boof in the AL central, I've gotten to see him pitch at the Jake - TWICE!
But seriously, though, I feel your pain. Certainly one of, if not the, worst trade of the past ten years.

Hopefully he doesn't pull a Rick Ankiel. (I hope there are no cardinals fans around)

I dont think that Liriano will be as good as he used to....in the 06' season he dominated....now after his surgery he'll be good.....but nothin like he used to be...which suck because im a twins fan myself and i'd love to see the twins have another strong starter like santana.

On another note...as much as I believe that the surgery won't hamper his play (he's had plenty of time to recover) and as good as I think he is (i curse Sabean EVERY day for trading him) he won't put up those same numbers his whole career, Remember Jered Weaver that same season?...lets compare
Liriano: 121 IP, 89H, 32BB, 144k!, 2.16 ERA
Weaver: 123IP, 94H, 33BB, 105K, 2.56 ERA
very similar right?...i mean Liriano was better but still, Weaver dominated
Weaver this year?
114IP, 125H, 27BB, 79K, 3.85ERA
Weaver is still good, Liriano will be good...all I'm saying is don't expect any miracles

How are the similar? There a huge difference in Ks, K/9, K/BB and ERA.

I think he'll struggle in ST and the first few months. His last few months will probably be his best.

look...gimme a break...you can't tell me you know everything about this guy after 120 innings...yes his numbers were better but Weaver's were pretty phenomenal for a rookie as well...that was my point
