Over the past five years, which teams have had the best First-Year Player drafts? I measure success by how many of their draftees have made it to their roster and made a contribution.

I don't have the actual figures in front of me, but in a previous issue of Baseball America, they did a study on this and I believe it said that the Blue Jays have drafted the most players on big league rosters.

If I had to guess I'd say the Oakland A's.

Anyone know what else it said?

sadly, a good majority are all on other teams rosters.
jays have drafted a decent part of there roster though (wells, rios, halladay all drafted and groomed in the minors). over the last five years though, this is all i came up with.

If you want to see a searchable draft history, team by team and round by round, they have it a b-r.com:
http://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/
Most players taken since 2002 have yet to reach the big leagues, and some franchises haven't seen any value from any of the players they have drafted since then, at least with the drafting team.
The Astros, for example, have had virtually no big league success out of any of their draft picks since 2002, at least yet. A couple of their players are with other teams now, though.
Oakland has done well, with Swisher and Blanton. Milwaukee has had a big season from Fielder. Detroit has Verlander.

It seems strange that few players drafted in the last six drafts have reached the majors. Is it just getting harder to make a big league roster than it was in the past?
