Attendence has gone up to record highs over the past couple of years for MLB but it's hard to find MLB baseball fans. To me, what it seems like and this is true for me too but it seems like there are less fans now than in the past but those who like baseball are going to more games than in the past. Do you think this is true?

Raw attendance numbers are misleading. New ballparks have driven the numbers as well as simple population growth. The TV numbers, as far as I know, have not experienced nearly the same growth.

Also, I think many of the families that go to games now treat it as an entertainment option. They are not really baseball fans in the traditional sense. This is especially true here in DFW with the Rangers ballpark. As a Red Sox fan I routinely know much more about the home team than the Ranger fans around me.

It costs a lot to go to a major league game. With all the new stadiums the prices go up. Watching it on tv is cheaper and your not sitting next to an annoying person talking on their cell phone not paying attention to the game.:silent:
